Although Sarah doesn’t yet have her driver’s license, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t enjoy perusing cars in the area and thinking about which one she might want to eventually buy.
This car came to her attention a few days ago.
She thinks she might be interested in it.
Plenty of room in the front seat.
Big ol’ back seat.
Lots of leg room.
Impressive steering wheel.
Cool dashboard.
Overall fabulous vintage vibe.
Of course, she wouldn’t be driving it a lot on her own. She would probably just go ahead and hire a chauffeur so that her only task would be to climb in and out of the cavernous back seat looking regal.
And also, to pose beside the front of the car looking bemused.
The only problem?
Her dad’s name doesn’t happen to be Daddy Warbucks. It’s just plain ol’ Steve. And plain ol’ Steve doesn’t happen to have the cash sitting in his back pocket to buy this particular vehicle. ( $110,000, if it were to be freshly restored.)
And also? I doubt that someone of Daddy Warbuck’s stature and financial prowess would ever be caught drooling all over the front bumper of said Packard and then have to wipe the drool off with his shirt.
So no, it doesn’t seem as though this car is going to be the one for Sarah. She’s going to have to keep on looking.
But in the meantime, I will treasure this view of my young lady in an old car.
P.S. Sarah and I were looking at this photo last night and saying it looked sort of like a book or a CD cover. So I have turned it into a pretend book cover, just for the fun of it.
She had the perfect hat for the car!
Agree! 🙂
Awesome picture! She should title the book “Driving Mama Becky” 🙂
Sheri, that would be a perfect title!
what a hoot!… sign me up for an autographed copy
Mrs. Pam,
You’ll be first in line! 🙂
Becky – one of your best! I liked photo 3421.
Fred, I liked that one, too. It captures Sarah very well.
Now that’s my kind of car – loved the PT Cruiser, but I chose a Cougar instead. Of course, neither one are being made now. My sister in the early 50’s had a Packard – course it was a little cheaper then. Sarah you looked very much like a young lady who should be chauffered around in that car. Liked the “title of the book.”
Sharyn,
They just don’t make cars as classy as they used to. What fun it would be to ride around town in a Packard!
Pastor Steve, You, Becky and Sarah dress “to the Nines” and I’ll chauffeur you to Kelly’s for a night on me
Scooter,
That would make for a fun time!
Too bad he’s not daddy warbucks…that car really suits her!!!
Sweet P,
I can just picture her now driving that car into her High School parking lot. That would be one way to get the attention of the fellas!
Lol, soooo cute, love it
Nancy,
it was a really fun family outing! 🙂
I SO enjoyed this!
Laurie,
Thanks. So much fun to do it–so much fun to write it!
That was wonderful.. The picture of Steve wiping the drool off was hilarious to me… I Love Old Vintage Cars too. They are beautiful.
Anonymous,
Yes, I thought the drool picture was a hoot! And vintage cars have a charm that no modern car could ever aspire to.
I think this all looks exquisitely British. 🙂
Olivia,
Exquisitely British is right. If we can’t visit there, at least we can pretend for a few moments!
Love it!! The post, the car, Sarah, not quite Daddy Warbucks…thanks so much for sharing a fun time together!!
Sherry,
Glad you enjoyed it. If our “ship ever comes in,” the first we’ll we do is go buy that car!
I love how that hat just completes the theme. She is beautiful.
Lisa,
Yeah, she just happened to be wearing the hat for another “hat event” at school but it fit in so well with the whole mood of the car.
I love it!
Jessica, 🙂
Love it!! Especially the “cover” photo!! 🙂
Tiffany,
Yeah, that cover photo is pretty cool! 🙂
Love it!
ncbev,
I was amazed at how fascinated I was by all the intricacies and luxuries of that car–so interesting!
