You know what I really hate about living on the Outer Banks?
It’s that the roads . . .
. . . and the parks
. . . and the bike trails
. . . and the beaches
. . . are always SO crowded.
Yep. That’s what I hate about the Outer Banks!
P.S. I realize that sometimes the locations pictured are busier than others, but this little post is just a tongue-in-cheek way of honoring our quiet, uncrowded winter season.
Great post, winter on the Outer Banks might be the best in my opinion. I love living down here especially when you can be the only on the the beach!
Ryan, thanks for stopping by. And I agree, winter out here is the best; at least when the temps get out of the thirties!
Such a hard, hard life.
Makes me ready for my Thanksgiving trip to Frisco…
Matt,
Yep, it’s a tough place to have to live. But we are somehow managing to make it work.
Such beauty! It just penetrates my spirit! I,too, find the ocean healing. I was blessed to grow up on the shore in CT. As a child any booboo seemed to heal quicker with much immersion in salt water…as a pre-teen/teen, those confusing, tumultuous emotions were calmed as I just sat on a rock and listened to the sea & gave it my anger and angst and the awe of its power instilled as I’d let the spray fly over me during a storm churning the Atlantic…as an adult, no longer within walking distance of the sea, I’ll drive and sit at any given hour to still myself when troubled and let the sea capture heartache over whatever might be going on and wash it out to the ends of the earth as God pours peace into me. Walking barefoot with pants rolled up or bodysurfing waves, what a wonderful, natural exfoliation! 🙂 I do not know the author of this saying, but for me so true: “The voice of the sea speaks to the soul.” What a blessing God’s creation is to me! How blessed you are to live amid such spendor!
Guerrina,
Such a beautiful entry. Thanks for putting into words what so many of us feel.

Guerrina,
Thanks for such a beautiful response and thanks for putting into words what so many of us feel.
I love the ocean! Never been to the outer banks…hopefully someday. we usualy go to the Jersey shore. we’ve been to Va. Beach and to various beaches in Florida (have alot of family there).
No ocean by us here near Syracuse.. but Lake Ontario is close and we can pretend to be at the ocean!
Michele,
Yes, Lake Ontario is definitely large enough to feel ocean-ish. I love me some Great Lakes!
Beautiful! We vacationed there (Outer Banks) several years ago; not during tourist season, but a week or so before Thanksgiving. God was soooooo gracious to give us weather warm enough to wade in the ocean and not freeze. It was healing. I love to walk the beach. It soothes my soul. I will NOT be envious. I will NOT be envious 🙂
Deb,
So nice to see your name pop up here!
You came at an absolutely perfect time; when it was still warmish and yet not crowded. You’re right–the ocean is very healing. If you ever come this way again, be sure to holler!
I live in Nebraska too its a way different life than living on the ocean …both have their good points…..and bad
Sharon,
You’re absolutely right. Every single place any of us live has pro’s and cons. The challenge (and joy) is finding the stuff we love and not thinking too terribly much about the stuff we don’t love!
Too funny. Very beautiful. I must get there soon.
Patti,
Yes, you would absolutely love a trip here!
Ahhhhh….so beautiful! I don’t think I would ever get anything done if I lived there because I would always be outside and on those bike trails, at the beaches etc. Dont get me wrong…..I love where I live. Nebraska is beautiful too. Just in a different way. 🙂 We even have beaches at the reservoirs and sand pits! 😀
LeeAnne,
I remember driving through Nebraska a long time ago and just drinking in the beauty–the wide, open areas and the roads that seemed to go on forever. Love it!
