Unexpected Sweetness

March 24, 2017

I got a call from Nathan on Tuesday morning saying he and the family were about to head out for a last-minute trip to Dunn, NC;  Meagan’s grandpa is in his last days of life and they wanted to see him one more time. I know there is truly nothing as special as those wonderful grandmas and grandpas in our lives.

Of course, we couldn’t let them get that close (three hours away) and not see them so yesterday, we met Nathan and the kids halfway for lunch. Sarah even drove in from Virginia to hang out with us all.  (Meagan stayed behind in Dunn, which is right where she needed to be.)

Although I don’t have time for a longer blog post (I am leaving town for a speaking engagement in just a couple of hours) I wanted to at least share a few pictures.  Will share a few more photos later.

I am so grateful for an unexpected day of unexpected sweetness; I am also praying for moments of unexpected sweetness on this journey that Meagan’s family is walking right now.

Prayers for Megan and family. Didn’t recognize the restaurant, but Loved the sign on the door! Photos are great!

Prayers for Meagan as they walk the difficult path. So glad you all could spend some time together in such a spontaneous way. The last picture of of Sarah and her little niece made me smile, so sweet.

I’m praying for Meagan and her family.
I’m so glad you got to see those sweet grandkids – and have both of your kids together.

Prayers for Meagan and her family. My sister-in-law is in the same situation with her dad and my friend at work is there with her mother. Her middle daughter was due on Sunday and I was so worried that my friend’s mother would pass and her granddaughter would be born on the same day. Fortunately that did not happen.

      Phyllis,

That would definitely be bittersweet to have a passing and a birth on the same day. Those end-of-life days we have with those we love are never easy. So many memories in the goodbyes.

Prayers to Meagan and her family. So glad you had the chance to see the rest of the family. Love the sign on the door to the kids play area. We do not have those restaurants (Chik fil A) in Southern Ontario. Have a great weekend.

Prayers for Meagan and her family. Love to see Nathan not afraid to venture out on his own with the kiddos.

      Vicki,

I was also vey proud of Nathan for bringing the kids on their own; he did it like it was no big deal and they behaved beautifully. Let’s hear it for dads!

Praying for Meagan’s grandfather! Glad you guys at least had a lunch visit. Like I say: Better than nothing! Those babies just keep getting more adorable.

      Donna,

Yes, a little is definitely better than nothing. So thankful we got that little window of time. And yes, those babies ARE pretty cute!

My heart goes out to Meagan. Our family just recently went through the same thing and I know how very difficult it is. Prayers for peace and comfort for her and her grandfather.
Great pictures! I can see the joy on your face at being all together, even if it is only for lunch. ‘Quality, not quantity’. 🙂

      LeeAnne,

I’m sorry for the loss your family has experienced. It is so very, very hard to say goodbye to the people we have loved for so long.
