I’ll start off my list of Thursday Things with this lovely, sweet and cuddly face. What a little, loyal friend she has been to us all. Snowy would be proud.
This is a pretty nice face, too!
The following picture is not so lovely; it provides you with a glimpse of what my desk looked like at the end of last week when everything seemed to suddenly multiply and I was confronted with the fact that I had six projects pending at the same time and none of them seemed to have any chance of getting done on time. (I did manage, however, to squeak them all in under the wire.)
My desk is not usually quite that chaotic but chaotic times call for chaotic measures . . .
Here is another project of mine–a piece of music for the song, My Dear Old Friend, that I’m performing Saturday night for our Salute to Veterans. I downloaded a chord chart but the chords were all wrong so I spent an hour trying to figure them out and still wasn’t overly happy with them.
So my plan is to throw myself at the mercy of Steve, my own personal Chord Meister, and see if he can help me work through the spots that aren’t sounding quite right. I’m so thankful to have married a man who is a meister in so many areas; I guess I could start calling him Mister Meister!
Speaking of which, here is an airplane that Steve designed and–with the help of some church buddies–built for the drama part of Saturday’s production.
Have I remembered to tell you that Mister Meister has recently joined the military?
Well, either he’s joined the military or he’s just getting some photos taken by Mister Meister’s Wife for the big show on Saturday.
And speaking of the program, here is a little piece of it: An angel dancing to the song, “I Will Rise” after the death of a soldier. Very, very moving.
As you well know, Steve and I have been blessed with our very own angel and this week for the first time, she voted in an election! We told her she was certainly free to to go to her own booth but she chose to go with Steve and me so it was an all in the family moment. (I had to laugh when the woman who was checking her in asked, “Are you old enough to vote?”)
Sarah posted this picture on her FB page with her I Voted sticker, the best accessory any gal can wear.
And for my last this and that item for today, I wanted to share a few edited photos. You may recognize the original from a couple of weeks ago.
And this very last photo is one of my all time favorites. I love that it is so resplendent in all its gold and blue and beauty.
The perfect peacefulness of the picture reminds me yet again that we are so blessed to have this world to inhabit, so blessed to have breaths to take, so blessed to have moments to treasure.
Here’s to the treasuring of this Thursday.
your Salute to Veterans will be wonderful and heart-breaking, too, I image.
Mrs. Pam,
It had a little sadness but mostly very heart warming. It was so great to get a chance to appreciate our vets!
What a fun post. Love Sarah’s new look and her voting. I love to vote! The barn photos were just splendid. My desk has looked very, very similar to yours all this week – hence, the lack of commenting. I am not sure I see the light at the end of the work, just yet, but I will get there. Squeeze that precious Summer for me – we still miss our sweet, lovely Greyhound girl so much!
Mary H,
Well, since Summer is right beside me as I type, I gave her a little squeeze for you . 🙂 We never get over missing our beloved dogs, do we?
Unless of course you live in a state that is all mail in and has done away with polling booths…big huge GRRRR face here…HATE it!
Nicole,
Really? I didn’t even know there were states that have done away with the booths. Just learned something!
Here’s to treasuing the day! Beautiful photos! Hope you are feeling better this week!
Jenna,
I’m feeling MUCH better; thanks for asking!
Yay Sarah for voting!! It is indeed a right AND privilege! And Becky, that yellow flower picture is just spectacular!! Those are the kind of pictures that soothe my soul and make me smile. 🙂
LeeAnne,
Soothing and smiling–some of my favorite things to do. So glad you like that picture.
