The Day After

June 27, 2022

It’s the day after. The day after saying goodbye.

Yesterday was a beautiful day in every way.  One of mom’s favorite things in nature was clouds so I’m thankful for all the fluffy clouds that got together to make an appearance for her celebration.

At the cemetery, all of the siblings placed their hands on the urn before it was placed into the ground. A holy, shining moment.

Some of my favorite people who I grieve and laugh with.

I will, of course, have many more stories and pictures down the road but for now, wanted to leave you with the video I made for the service.

If you don’t want to watch the entire video, be sure to at least watch the last minute when there is a surprise visit by a Certain Someone.

(Note:  This is a slightly different version than what I first posted.  I noticed after the fact that in all of my editing and re-editing, I had inadvertently deleted the only photo of Gage and Sarah. Since I had to go back into the editing program anyway, I also added a few of mom’s end-of-life photos.)

This is a song I wrote many years ago when we thought Sarah was not going to survive her cancer and we would have a funeral for her.  Turns out we didn’t need it after all!  Sarah took the song and made a lyric video which we played for mom’s funeral.

Thank you again for the prayers, comments, and compassion.

Becky, you favor your mother a lot, I especially see it in pictures where you both are in your teens or twenties.

Thank you so much for sharing the very moving video and music from your mom’s service. Seeing her smiling face at the piano at the end was perfect! I must admit to tears after watching it and listening to the song intended for Sarah. So glad your loved ones could be there with you. I hope life settles down a bit for you all and that your health remains good. You have been through so much.

The video of your mom’s life was so awesome. Hard to choose and put a whole life in a 12 minute video, but you did very well.
The song was absolutely beautiful. Prayers as you begin life without your mom. You will go to call her many times and get tearful when you realize you can’t. Or, want to tell her something meaningful or funny. Wendy

That was a beautiful video showing your mother’s Celebration of Life. I am so glad that she was able to ride on the pontoon boat and the hay ride, even though she was in a wheel chair. Everyone looks like they are so happy just to be in her presence. My favorite picture is the one with the lamp off to the right of the photo, with your mom looking out the window with the bible on her lap! That seems to show how her whole life was, dedicated to the Lord, enjoying his beauty and reading his word.
Prayers for the family through this difficult time! Even though you can rejoice in her homecoming, it still doesn’t take away the pain that you miss her in your earthly life!
