Writing a blog post on a back porch surrounded by the greenest lawns on the planet and the serenading of a plethora of birds is no kind of hardship. The only thing that would make this perfect is Summer tucked in beside me.
Of course, Debbie does have a cat so at least there is one small animal in the vicinity to assuage my missing of my own personal doggie.
Love this sweet house and the sweet family that resides in it.
This photo of Deb and me is extra special because Mom took it. Her first photo with a DSLR camera! I had the exposure set wrong but she nailed the focus. Go, Mom!
So far on this visit to Wisconsin, I’ve been doing a lot of this . . .
and that.
Photography and family have pretty much permeated every waking moment; throw in a few back road trips and I have been a happy woman.
I got to see four of my siblings on Friday at a gathering at my sister, Ruth’s, house. (She’s the one in the hat.)
I’ll get to see my missing-from-the-photo brother, Phil, and his family tonight. Unfortunately, I won’t get to see my unofficially adopted brother, Ron, but he sent the most beautiful cut flowers to Mom yesterday which just happened to perfectly match her outfit. He signed the card, “From your favorite son, Ron.” Ron is gifted at making people smile.
Taking photos in Ruth’s yard and house is one of my happiest joys.
Here are a few to start with; there will be many more to come, as well as some photos from my country drives.
I’ll close with one of my favorites. It illustrates that I’ve not only been country driving but country walking.
Country roads, take me home . . .
Love seeing the pictures and beautiful smiling family. Love to all!
Vernie,
It was such a wonderful trip. Can’t believe it’s already over!
Well… that’s a new one for me: dust ruffles for chairs. I’ve made 1,000+ chair covers for Preschool and Preschool’s church…but just for the back of the chairs; never thought of covering the legs!
so happy that you are having a wonderful time with your family.
is Debbie’s cat a tortoiseshell? looks like my Toesy did.
Mrs. Pam,
Yes, Ruth puts creative touches on anything that will sit still–even the legs of chairs.
Yes, that’s a tortoiseshell cat. She’s a rescue and Debbie just loves her!
I’m so disappointed 🙁 I missed you at my store! I got your nice calling card. I hope your visit was a great one the weather certainly was better with you in the state!
Peggy
When you mentioned your store and invited us to stop by, I had no clue where in Wisconsin Mayville was. Then we were headed to see my brother in West Salem and I just happened to look up and see a sign that said, “Mayville,” only 3 miles away! We just HAD to stop by and say howdy. Sorry we missed you but my brother-in-law was very happy to pick up some cheese at the shop. 🙂
Beautiful pictures Becky. I have a question. Do you print out any of your pictures and keep them in albums or do you just have a digital album?
Mel,
No, I don’t usually print my photos but I do think I would enjoy having some of my favorites printed and put into a small album.
Fun to see all these photos, Bec!
Ruth,
And it is fun seeing YOU today! 🙂
Can tell you are having a great time. Fantastic pictures as usual.
Ann,
Yes, when you don’t get to see your family for 3 years at a time, those moments together are definitely to be treasured!
What a beautiful place to decompress! So glad you’re seeing family!
Guerrina,
Thanks! Hard to believe I’ll be headed home tomorrow. It’s gone by fast!
Is someone walking a Corgi in that last picture?
Glad you’re having such a great trip!
Jodi,
Yep, that’s a Corgi! It’s Ruth’s daughter’s dog.
Nice pictures! Can’t wait to see more. 🙂
So glad you got to see so much family. Safe travels!
LeeAnne,
More pictures to come! It’s been so great being with family and taking photos of family,
You gave us just a teaser of shots! I would to see the whole planter that has the forks in it too!?! I am not artistic so to see some of these different ideas for outside gardens is great! So glad you are having a great time. Wendy
Wendy,
Ruth is your go to person for creative ideas for yard and garden!
I don’t remember if I have a wider shot on that planter or not; I will try to check on it.
Lovely photos. Beautiful family Glad you are having such a special time
Thank you, Jenna. I’m enjoying every moment. It is rainy and cool today so we are staying inside and getting ready to enjoy Debbie’s famous buttermilk pancakes.
nice pictures. your last leg shot incorporates old and young as it seems to be a stroller and a wheel chair. glad you are having a great time
Becky,
You have a good eye! I had also noticed the stroller/wheelchair combo and commented to someone that they represented both ends of life–the beginning and the ending.
What a very interesting house. Almost like an antique store. Which could occupy me for hours. Can’t wait to see more of your adventure. I didn’t realize you had so many siblings!
Lesley,
Ruth has such a lovely house and decorates it entirely with used/thrifted items. She has quite the eye for whimsical, eclectic decorating.
