Last week as I was driving back to Manteo from Kill Devil Hills, I caught the tail end of a gorgeous sunset.
Even though I didn’t have my Nikon along (just my little purse camera) I pulled over and got some shots of those lovely, lovely clouds hovering over the lit up water beneath.
Well, here is my lovely daughter-in-law. She posted this photo on FB and captioned it, “37 weeks. I’m ready. Enough said.”
Meagan is continuing to teach full time, despite the discomforts of late term pregnancy; we are so proud of her for hanging in there when it’s getting so difficult.
I’m especially happy to hear that Nathan is taking especially good care of her during this period of life. She recently posted on FB,
My husband arranged my bed just how I like it and set my alarm for me without asking any questions. He is a man who pays close attention to details…only one of the reasons I am so in love with him. I am blessed and taken great care of I can’t wait to tell Noah all the great things about his daddy.
Awwwww . . .
As most of us are aware, 37 weeks means that Noah could really come at any time. (Sarah was actually born at 36 weeks.)
And when The Call comes? Well, we are making plans to jump into the car and embark on the 13-hour journey so that we see this little fella whom we have never met but already love.
Of course Sarah wants to come along with us but it will depend on whether or not Noah is born during the week or near a weekend. If he comes near the weekend and Sarah would only have to miss a day or two of school, she’ll come along; otherwise, she’ll need to stay behind.
And also, depending on a few other things going on in our lives and when exactly Sir Noah decides to make his appearance, I may stay a few extra days and fly back after Steve and Sarah drive home.
So. We have entered the Holding Our Breath Period of our lives, knowing that at any moment we could get the call telling us Nathan and Meagan are headed to the hospital. (Which is located approximately 90 seconds from their house so no worries about getting there on time!)
I’ll close with a few more words from Meagan’s FB page,
At the end of the day all I can think about is meeting our little boy for the first time….I am overtaken with love for him even now. Excited for mommy life:)
He is going to be a blessed little boy!
How exciting!! He will be here before you know it! Meagan is absolutely beautiful too! I know your excitement….our 2nd grandchild (boy) is due on the 27th so just around the corner as well. However we leave for vacation in the morning and have requested that our D-I-L please wait until we get back in 9 days. 🙂 Hence, our finger-crossing and breath-holding are in full force!
As you make that 13 hour drive, prepare yourself because once you lay eyes on sweet Noah, you just will never be the same. And it’s so AWESOME!! Looking forward to that news!!
LeeAnne,
Here’s hoping your d-i-l is right on time (so you can take your vacation) and MY d-i-l is early! (Because I can’t wait!)
Congrats and enjoy your vacation.
Oh my, so close now. When is Meagan officially done work? I myself worked up until 38 weeks with my first one and past my due date by 2 days with my second. Also, what does the state of Florida have as far as maternity leave? In Canada we are entitled to a year?
Mel
Mel,
I think she’s going to try and work until she delivers but I’m not real sure. (Haven’t heard her mention it, not that I think of it.) A year is a wonderful period of time!! I think Meagan is going to take 6 weeks.
My son was born in Winter Haven at Regency Medical Center, wonder if that’s where Noah will be born as well? How exciting!
Melissa,
We will be at the regency!! Love the staff there. We are very excited to welcome our little boy to our family only 90 sec. from our door step, as mom already mentioned. The big day is very close!! 🙂
Melissa,
How fun is that that your son and Noah are getting their start in life at the same spot! Yay!
she looks wonderful, i am so looking forward to hearing about the big event!!!!!
Lesley,
She looks wonderful AND very ready to get that baby OUT of there! Being pregnant through a Florida summer is not for the faint of heart. 🙂
Beautiful pictures of the clouds, water and lights! So exciting, 37 weeks….Baby Noah will be here any time now! Enjoy:)
Rebecca,
Glad you enjoyed the clouds, water and lights–I love sunsets, especially the ones around here.
It’s hard for me to believe “we” are at 37 weeks. Can’t wait!
bless her heart… she does look ready to happily welcome Noah.
can’t wait to hear that Nathan is calling you to head south.
Mrs. Pam,
That will be a mighty exciting phone call to receive! I just hope we don’t break any speed limits on the way down.
Oooh so exciting! 37weeks already? Wow it seemed to go fast. I still remember the first picture you posted of Meagan, she was still in her first trimester, wasn’t she? Noah will be blessed with amazing parents, that’s for sure 🙂
Renee,
Yep, you’re right. I first posted Meagan’s pregnancy picture when she was about 8-10 weeks along and we were all commenting about how much she was showing already. Well, he’s REALLY showing now! 🙂
Yes I remember I was impressed how much she was showing this early!! I have to admit I’m a bit jaleous… at 13 weeks, I am definitely not showing at all!
I am sooo excited for all of you! 🙂 It won’t be long! 🙂 Glad all is well! 🙂
Kristi,
Soon, soon, soon!
I’m so excited!
Jan,
You and me both! (Or I should say, you and US both!) But then that really doesn’t make sense . . . oh well. You get the idea. 🙂
What a wonderful welcome he is going to get!
Anonymous,
Yes he will. And this grandma will do her best not to spoil him TOO much. (Or not.)
Kim,
So exciting for you and your family to have Kirby and Lindsay’s wedding coming up–a joyful, special, day of celebration!!
BEST TIME EVER!! Enjoy every “waiting” moment. It is so exciting. And, then, the first look at him will be you will be a moment you will never, ever forget. You are going to have so much fun. Stay those few extra days, no matter what you have to rearrange – these are moments not to be missed by daily duties.
As my mom always said about taking the time to be with babies – especially grandbabies….”Quiet down dust, cobwebs go to sleep, I am rocking my baby and babies don’t keep!”
Nathan and Meagan are exceptional people – Noah is a very blessed little man.
Mary,
I have always loved that poem–so very profound!
Yes, he is going to be a blessed little boy! I’m so happy for all of you. Exciting times!
P.S. Kirby and Lindsay’s wedding date is coming up! 10 more days. 🙂
