Sunrise Service and Your Weather Reports

April 6, 2018

I completely forgot in Monday’s Easter post to show you a few photos from the Sunrise Service that Steve attended.

Just for the record: I will probably NEVER go to a sunrise service again because the whole idea of being completely ready for the day by that early hour makes my brain hurt. However, for the people who go to them and love them, my hat is off to you. Steve goes every year and always enjoys them.  Of course he is either in charge of them or participates in them so it’s fairly important that he attend!

At any rate, he said this one was especially beautiful because the water was calm and the morning was lovely in an Edenic sort of way. (It’s fun to feature Steve’s iPhone photography for a change!)

Writing about lovely and calm mornings reminds me of weather and that reminds me that I would like to take a brief weather survey of my readers.

I have been hearing that this has been a cool spring all over the place.  Our weather report for the next 15 days only has us in the 50’s and 60’s which is pretty chilly for late April in the South.  I’ve even heard from some of you who still have snow on the ground!

So if you would, please leave a quick comment with these three things: your location, your current temperature, and whether or not there is snow on the ground.  (Number of inches would be fun to hear, too.)

For instance, mine would say:

Manteo, NC
48
No snow

It would be interesting to see what spring is looking like for you–wherever in the world you are.  Because who needs the Weather Channel when we have the Smithellaneous Network to keep us informed!

Snow on the ground. Depends on if the sun hits the area on how much. But there are still very high piles from clearing snow off parking lots. Probably 16 feet tall and even bigger around for these piles.

Just checking back in with the new commenters since I last checked in on this post.

I am dearly hoping with ALL of you that winter is in the throes of planning its exit and spring is gathering its lovely skirts and preparing to make an appearance.

Later this week we are supposed to be sunny and in the 70’s. Rejoicing!!

Today’s High was 45, Normal High is 57
No snow on the ground but it was coming down most of the day today and we had a weather advisory for snow squalls that would limit visibility. Tired of this stuff!

Has been warming up to the mid 30’s during the day.
We have some grass showing in open fields but several inches to a couple of feet (in the woods and shaded areas) of snow pack left. Snowed Friday evening (a couple of inches only)

Thank you everyone, for chiming in from all over everywhere! I so enjoyed reading your reports and your added comments.

I was absolutely amazed at how many of you still have freezing temps and snow on the ground. When spring finally does come, we are all going to appreciate it VERY much.

Savage, MN: 15 (wind chill -7) last Sat. no snow on our front yard – Tuesday, 8 inches of new snow – today, Fri., some grass showing. My husband and I talked about going to sunrise services MANY years ago and then having breakfast at the church, or we would go out for breakfast, which would have been about 7:30. Neither one of us (or our 2 adult children) are morning persons, so that for me was not fun (in the getting up so early part), but just knowing that Christ arose for me made the morning special. Steve took some great pictures. Our Easter this year was very chilly (in the 20’s), BUT it was sunny! Yes, Sue K. I’ve heard about the snow that is to come on Sunday. Oh, me!

  13. Brooke R. says:

It won’t snow here. Right now it’s cloudy and 67. Tomorrow it’ll be 53 and rain. The same with sunday. But Monday it’ll be 66 and SUNNY! But then it drops to 56, and 49 on the 11th. Darn it. This is what it is in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. Corvallis.

It looks like we’re going to have some spectactular wind all day tomorrow and being that I’m only an hour from the ocean I may go out there. I’m not thrilled with the rain, but we’re in dire need of it, if this continues even we western Oregonians will get terribly grumpy though.
