After Sarah and I ran around Virginia Beach for four hours on Tuesday looking at dresses in incredibly high-priced consignment stores (very few things under $100), we ended up at Macy’s at the mall. (We had to laugh when we walked in the doors because we figured we had only been to a mall together about half a dozen times.)
With a mere 20 minutes to go before she had to head back to school for a class, a dress caught her eye that she loved.
She tried it on.
It fit like a dream.
And it was on sale.
With an extra 30% off!
Which means we got it for $51.
Don’t you love this happy, dress-shopping, dress-finding face?
The big night happens tomorrow. Hooray!
Oh how did I know your were going leave us hangin’? Can’t wait to see it. So happy for Sarah the she found a dress.
Mel,
Yep. That’s how I get readers to come back. Just leave ’em hanging! 🙂
Can’t wait to see the dress!!!
Lesley,
It’s a comin’! 🙂
Wow, that’s a great price for a dress, can’t wait to see the photo’s! I didn’t attend any of my high school proms, and almost forty years later, I have no regrets. I too prefer quieter, more intimate get togethers. I’m in heaven quietly reading a book with no television on. Hoping Sarah has a wonderful time tonight!
Kari,
Yes, I’m like you; I would much rather be reading a book at home rather than being at a noisy gathering! I’m glad Sarah is stretching out of her comfort zone.
Excited to see pictures.
Ann,
It will be fun to see it all come together! 🙂
super!
Mrs. Pam,
Yes, indeedy!
I love it when it all works out! Can’t wait to see pictures and hear the details. Exciting!
Wendy,
I think I am more nervous than SHE is! 🙂
So glad the shopping trip ended so well! Can’t wait to see pictures of Sarah in the new dress. With her date, of course. What a lucky young man to have Sarah as his date for the dance. Hoping for a magical evening for both of them. Can’t wait to hear about the evening.
Linda in Pittsburgh
Linda,
And the best news of all is that she is coming tomorrow for a month. So we will get to hear all of her stories in person. 🙂
So glad the shopping marathon ended in success! I hope they have a wonderful time–can hardly wait to see the photos!
Denise,
Sarah has sent us some previews as she’s been putting her outfit together. Very, very lovely.
Great news. Just waiting to see the best couple at the ball!!
Jim,
It’s a big day, for sure!
Can’t wait to hear about it! And see Sarah in her new dress!
Buff
Buff,
Big, big day!
And by the way, I just clicked on the photo connected with your comment. Is that the organization/your husband is in charge of? Amazing!!
I am so excited for Sarah! Can’t wait to see her in her dress. I know she will look like a princess. What a lucky guy it is to take Sarah on her first date. I hope she has a wonderful time. Can’t wait to hear all about it.
Joy,
The name Sarah actually does mean princess so I know her princess-ness will be shining bright tonight!
This really brought back so many wonderful memories of dress shopping for homecoming and prom dresses with my daughter. I loved those times with her and can’t believe it has already been 17 years ago when we shopped for her first one. 🙁
Oh I DO love that smile!! A new dress for a first date…..how exciting!! Have a fantastic time, Sarah!!
LeeAnne,
There are few things more special than shopping with a daughter! Time goes back way too fast, doesn’t it.
So exciting, especially at Christmas. Can’t wait to see pictures of the dress. Have fun, Sarah.
Diane,
Thank you, Diane. I can’t wait to see pictures of the whole finished product, either! 🙂
