You all have been amazingly sweet to our family this week with so many comments, prayers, emails, texts, and hugs sent from many parts of the world. We are humbled and overwhelmed and so very grateful to know that we have so many dear friends, many of whom we’ve never even met–but who are so special to us, all the same.
If you’ve read this blog for any length of time, you know that I write about our life–the good parts and the difficult parts. And sometimes the stories are sad, like the one I posted earlier today.
However, I don’t want to send you all into your weekend with a sad story on your hearts and I just happen to have a couple of happy photos to share.
Today, for the first time, Sarah drove herself to the High School for her part time tutoring job, then she drove on to college and back home again. She even went through the drive-thru at Dunkin’ Donuts which is another first for her.
When I got home this afternoon and walked into the house, I saw that she was modeling this hat, recently purchased at a thrift store.
It was great to see that Sarah spunk reemerge.
And here is a photo Steve took of her after she got home from her day. Thankfully, her pain is almost gone and she is feeling much stronger.
Compared to yesterday’s photo?
Our girl is back!
Her inside beauty radiates to her outside beauty!
She’s a model! I am going to get back to Outer Banks SOMEDAY and take some pictures of you guys with weather that will ALLOW it! I know.. you get amazing shots. But I want to get some, too! Love to you all..
Pam,
We’re going to hold you to that!
Love the smile, the spunk, the hat, and most especially the illustrious Miss Smith! 🙂
Love, deb
Great job on your first solo trip in the new car! So glad to see the sparkle and spunk back in Sarah’s eyes! With Sarah’s faith and courage and all the love and support surrounding her, I doubt that much can keep her down for very long before she bounds back. Love the outfit, and the hat . . . Sarah always looks terrific!
Linda in Pittsburgh
She looks super! Love her stylish outfit! Go Sarah!
definitely back… that’s for sure! eyes sparkling… lovely!
Great job on the Donut drive-thru!! Next stop: the car wash! Do you have drive-thru car washes down there? I bet Steve does it with a hose at home, darn it. Or you could try the bank drive thru. That’s fun!
Lesley,
You’re right–we’re a hose-washing family! Although if Sarah and I are ever driving along somewhere and see a drive thru car wash we’ll have to stop, just for the experience of it.
Sarah’s dress is very pretty – and goes really well with that nice looking car!
You Go Girl! I love the hats!I wear them myself to get some spunk!
That’s wonderful and it is nice to see her smile. Such a nice young lady!
Love that beautiful smile and the hat. Sarah is such a lovely person.
What a cute outfit! Love the hat too! Beautiful girl.
She is so very special and precious. ((hugs))
Cheryl,
So nice to see your name pop up here; I hope you and your family are doing well.
Wonderful!
Great picture. You make me feel so old, been praying for you for a very long time!
Oh, GREAT call on the Dunkin Donuts stop, Sarah! Hope you enjoyed every bite and/or sip from your first solo drive-thu experience.
One of my favorite outfits of Sarah’s. Glad to see the spunk back
Love to see her rebound with spunk!! She shows her strength and faith in a wonderful way. Give her hugs as a mama to her daughter. Let her know that she is loved by so many strangers, as strange as that sounds…
Judy,
Being loved by so many “strangers” is a great privilege!
Sarah is incredibly blessed to have such a caring, compassionate mother beside her. Throughout her life, whenever she faces challenges of any sort, she will have your love in her heart to carry her through, even when you cannot be physically present with her. i am glad the pain is almost gone and her smile is returning.
Yay!! Happy photos indeed! 🙂
Oh happy day !!
What an adorable outfit…..glad to see her spunk is back!!! Hope you all have a great week-end!
Good to see the spunk back! Even better to hear that she made such an important licensed-driver-first….the drive-through donut stop! Congratulations, Sarah!!!
P.S. I LOVE the hat. My daughter has many very similar and wears them smiling also! You go, Sarah.
Mary,
You can’t look at that hat and NOT smile! And it’s great to see a smile today!
I just knew she would be “back” so much sooner than her mama’s hurting heart thought possible. More prayers answered. Many have been answered this week for me – those including Sarah. My friend’s nephew, Greg, had what seems to be an unbelievably perfect match of bone marrow transplant yesterday. The doctors cannot explain how it is so perfect – I can – God is the greatest healer of all. Greg has many days ahead to get through but all looks very promising – his sister did him proud with her donation yesterday. Praying for everyone and smiling now while I do.
Mary,
So very happy that Greg has found a great match. What an amazing answer to prayer!
love the hat & love the dress! Love that your first alone trip found you at the Dunkin Donut drive through – girl after my own heart! Blessings to all of you
Beautiful! It’s so good to see her smile.
