We’re continuing to wean Snowy off his med’s. As several of you mentioned in the comments, the steroid is the most complicated one because that can’t be taken away all at once. We’ve gone from 2-3 times a day (for his three most recent meds) down to just once a day and so far, he is doing fairly well. The first day we started it was a bit tough but today he’s seemed happy and pretty lively.
He keeps wanting to climb the stairs so we’ve put a baby gate across them which means he has to wait for the elevator. (That would be me.)
So I’m sort of cautiously hopeful that he may make it to a point where he can get by without his major meds, although getting rid of the steroid altogether will be the “kicker” as far as all that goes because that is what is giving him the most relief.
Thanks to those of who you have emailed or commented, checking in on him.
Here’s a favorite older photo of him “singing.”
We’re currently in the process of planning a Tea Party on Monday for Sarah’s early birthday celebration. (Her birthday isn’t till the 23rd.) Between meds, a (hopefully) recovering doggy, a Tea Party, and a road trip on Saturday and one on Sunday, I’ll be keepin’ plenty busy.
Thanks for checking in!
Priceless pic of your precious pup! 😉 Hope and pray you have many more precious moments with him.
And happy early birthday to your sweet girl! My daughter, Haley, is a few months younger. I think this is what drew me to Sarah’s story. It’s a mom of a teen girl kind of connection. 🙂 Several years ago Haley decided she preferred a “girls weekend” over gifts. Last year we stayed at the Opryland Hotel for a few nights (with a few other gals), and Haley decided right then and there “we will celebrate this way every year til mom’s too old to wanna come”. Made me feel special … and wanna book next year’s reservation right away. 😉 Hope your celebration is spectacular, too!!

Michelle, what a great way to celebrate! The Opryland Hotel is gorgeous and I’m sure you all have a fabulous time. And how nice that you’re invited, too! 🙂
Singing, huh? Maybe a podcast would be in order!
Regardless, hurrah for the good update!
Jeff, a podcast by a pooch! It’ll be the newest thing in the blogging world.
What a great photo of the singing doggie. I was a bit concerned when we hadn’t heard anything for about a day – not that you don’t have more to do than update us but then, we are needy! So, I was glad to hear that Snowy is still holding his own and comfortable and interested in getting up those steps. Have fun with all the plans coming up. A tea party sounds wonderful – I used to take my girls to High Tea at a hotel in St. Louis when they were younger – we had the best time – it was very special and they still talk about it. Happy early birthday to Sarah – and, WHAT….she is not going to be 18?!!!!
I’m so glad to hear that Snowy is still doing well. I hope his sore back has calmed down and he’ll do well coming off all the meds. Keep it up Snowy!!!
Snowy
I have your singing photo in my hymnal along with lots of other Pen Pals’ pictures, and now my hymnal is almost too thick to fit in the rack.
woof and love
Love this picture of Snowy…. He’s so stinking cute! Happy early birthday to Sarah….. each time I read that she is celebrating another birthday, my heart is filled with joy.
