Today has been absolutely crazy wild (and slightly stressful) in a whole bunch of different ways, but the thing that has emerged from the craziness the most is that we just found out that Snowy will need surgery first thing tomorrow morning.
When we got back from our Wisconsin trip we noticed a spot on his back that had grown quite a bit in our absence and in the last week or so, it’s grown a whole lot more. The vet said she doesn’t like its color (black) or the fast way it’s changed over a short time; her concern of course, is that it’s cancer.
So if you could send a few comforting thoughts in Snowy’s (and our) direction over the next few hours, it would be greatly appreciated.
Just in from vacation and catching up. I hope Snowy is ok!
I was away from the computer yesterday and didn’t see the news on Snowy until now. Right there with you in spirit.
Love deb
poor snowy will be thinking of you guys…tell him he doesnt need to share so intimately in everything to be able to understand and nurse….
THANK YOU to everyone who has sent Snowy-labeled thoughts and prayers in our direction. Nice to know our little guy is well loved.

Becky,
Best wishes for Snowy Studmuffin Smith’s (SSS) Speedy Surgical Shindig! I am sure he will come out of surgery with flying colors as only SSS can do. Please, if you will, be sure to keep all of SSS’s fans abreast of his progress! Hugs and good thoughts! Jodi
Just this past spring the very disgnosis was given to my mom’s Golden Retriever, Kelli (she is 11 yrs old). We were all devastated, as the tumor was “dark and suspicious”, and was “growing and changing in size” – a pretty sure sign it was cancer.
But the vet was wrong. Kelli’s tumor was not malignant!! She is fine. And just a sweet as ever. 😉
I am sure Snowy will be just fine. After all, he’s a Smith! 🙂
Praying for the Smiths and Snowy. May you all feel God’s loving arms around you as you go through this trying time. Love to all.
Praying that it’s something benign and that he’s healed up good as new in no time! 🙂
We also have a maltese who is eleven and I love all your posts about Snowy. Snowy reminds me of our little Sophie. Hope all goes well tomorrow – please keep us posted. Love your blog and have followed for years. Beautiful family.
SNOWY
SURE AM PRAYING FOR YOU, FELLA!!
Ohhhh Snowy! Warm thoughts and heartfelt prayers for you, you sweet dog. Prayers for peace for your famlly while they wait for you to be home and healthy again.
Praying for a successful surgery and a quick and pain free healing for Snowy!
Thoughts and prayers with Snowy and all of you! Here’s hoping it’s benign. One of my dogs had a small black spot on his back paw a few months ago that we had removed and it turned out to just be a hemangioma (benign tumor). His didn’t change size in the week or so we kept an eye on it, but I know the vet mentioned that they can grow quickly. My fingers are crossed that this is what Snowy has and nothing more. ((hugs))
When we last saw him, he took us for walks – hoping he’ll soon be back to short naps and long walks! Hugs and prayers all around for grand dog and grand family!
Praying for that sweet, sweet boy… AND for all of you, too!
Positive thoughts & prayers coming your way.
Poor fur-baby Snowy!! Prayers are with you all!
Praying that Snowy comes through like the champ he is.
Cindy from Sonoma
Oh, my dear, Snowy. Many, many thoughts will be coming your way and your family’s, along with heartfelt prayers. I know the worry and dread you are all going through now. I don’t know what more to say – so I will say it in prayer for you sweet, doggie.
Many thoughts and hugs going out to Snowy and you all from the UK. My oldest dog (12) has had oral cancer removal twice over the past 2 years and each time he’s pulled through. Totally understand how you all feel though and I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow!
