Simple Joys. Simple Life.

January 21, 2013

It’s amazing to me that as many times I’ve ridden my bike up to the north bridge of Roanoke Island and photographed the sunset, it never looks the same way twice.  The clouds, the atmosphere, the light, the mood of the water . . . they change every day.

A few days ago Steve and I rode up to the bridge and to my delight, I found the water of the Albemarle Sound as smooth as I’ve ever seen it.  The light was lovely and the sun was making its daily exit with its usual display of panache. I was so happy to have a few minutes to putter around and snap a few photos of the sunset show.

The best part of taking pictures was having a patient husband waiting nearby who was ready to accompany me on our companionable pedal back to the house.

Simple joys. Simple life.

That is the simple glory of the sea. Simply and quietly changing its beauty every moment. That is why I simply love it. Thank you so much for sharing your photos.

Beautiful photos!!! And what a contrast to the view out my window!! Right now, my world is a winter wonderland filled with tons of snow- and more is streaming down!! It’s so dark this time of year in Canada’s most northern large city
( It was still dark when my daughter left for the school bus at 8:20 am). The temperature is -13 Celsisus. (3 F) which is not bad at all for January in Alberta, but still cold. What a treat it was to start my day with see your lovely coast pictures! Your photos are beautiful.

Jenna, I can’t even begin to imagine how much you far northerners look forward to spring every year! It must be cause for riotous rejoicing. I can’t even imagine it still being dark at 8:20 am–not to mention it being that cold. Brrrr!! So glad my pictures brought you a little bit of Southern warmth.

  9. Beathtaking (or how to spell it) Those are one of my favorite sets

    Good morning, Becky!

Such beautiful pictures!!! I always enjoy your photos. Simple joys are often the best ones!! I think too few people these days take the time to enjoy the simple pleasures and joys in life.

Linda, and the wonderful thing is that the simple pleasures are all around us–we just have to keep our eyes open for them! So glad you liked the pictures.
