The Shed, Shaved, Sheared Beard

March 25, 2016

One day after the close of our drama, at the behest of his beauteous bride Becky, Steve shed, shaved, and sheared his beard.

Of course, he couldn’t just shave it off without some humorously themed fanfare because that would be so very unSteve.

Here is the Mutilated Sideburn.

Sarah enjoyed the sideburn scenario but delicate littleSummer couldn’t bring herself to look. Mutilated sideburns?  I can’t look!

It only got worse.

He continued to embark on all manner of shavery artistry until . .

finally, the beard was all gone.  And in the excitement of the moment, I forgot to get the “all gone” picture.  Oh well. I know you’ve seen him in his beardless state before.

On a non-beardlike topic . . .

last night I concocted a quick, spring-ish dessert.

I had recently discovered that Oreos now come in a super thin variety and they are wonderful. They’re just 35 calories per cookie and they are a perfect balance of crispy and sweet. In the process of making up some shortcakes, I was inspired at the last minute to adorn each dessert with one-half of a half-as-thin-as-the-original Oreo.

It was really quite good and the whole concoction was about 150 calories.  (Note: if I was serving this to company, I would use my all white plates and drizzle a pattern of caramel sauce on the plate before compiling the dessert.)

A non-fuzzy husband and a  yummy dessert.  Happy day!

    It looks pretty yummy!
    Happy Easter!

I love it that Steve is so easily amused! The transformation pictures are wonderful (and Sarah’s patient face is so, so cute).

The dessert looks great! Of course, there’s this: lives alone, needs one cookie to make a dessert, but they only come in full packages; how quickly can she consume all those crisp sweet cookies? When I make strawberry shortcake minis, I like to use strawberry flavored low-fat yogurt instead of whipped cream (or even pretend whipped cream). And that’s probably the only kitchen-y input you’ll ever get from the likes of me.

Here’s a Bible question for you. Is there a designated name for the Saturday that today is? We go from Maundy Thursday to Good Friday to Saturday to Easter Sunday. Is it Holy Saturday?

On reflection, I don’t think my question is a Bible question, but rather a general religion question.

        Jan,

As a yogurt lover, I enjoyed learning your Sole Kitchen Tip. And as for needing just one cookie out of the package, that’s what freezers are for! Freeze the rest of those those cookies and pull out as needed. (Love my freezer.)

Great question about what the Saturday before Easter is called; I’ve never really thought about that before so I looked it up for you. (and for me.) Turns out that it does have a name: Holy Saturday, commemorating the day that Jesus lay in the tomb.

I’m glad you asked; I learned something!

    Both look good!

You all must be exhausted. But, what a wonderful dessert, Yum. Happy Easter to you all.

    • Becky says:

      Lesley,

It’s Sunday afternoon and I am STILL having Drama Withdrawals of Exhaustion. (A fully documented medical condition.):-)

And yes, that WAS a great (and light) dessert.
