Sarah The Younger. Nathan The Older.

May 28, 2014

Last Thursday I had my monthly Orencia infusion and a couple of hours later I had a raging sore throat and a cough which has stuck with me for the past six days and was also joined by laryngitis, fatigue, weakness, and a double ear infection.  Because of feeling so wobbly and unwell, I have barely left the house except for one trip to my family doctor for a prescription.

Orencia can be known to actually cause a sore throat, cough, etc. although I was probably coming down with something when I went in for the infusion that day.  And with Orencia also having adverse effects on the immune system, I think I just got hit with a double whammy.

Since I haven’t felt a whole lot like writing and/or thinking over the past few days, today’s post will consist of photos of a certain delightful girl back in her younger years: Sarah The Younger, if you will.  Many of these photos will be completely new to you since I just scanned them last week in preparation for her graduation slide show.

Following Sarah’s gallery of photos are a few photos of her big brother, Nathan The Older. They show him serving food along with his “other dad” at a church function.  Plus, there’s a shot of Meagan, taken with a friend of hers, and a picture of Sherri (Meagan’s mom) and Kristen, Meagan’s oldest sister who just got engaged. (Hooray!)

So enjoy these photos of some of the people who enrich my life the most!

(Note: All you have to do to see the photos full size is to click on the first picture in each of the two galleries and then use the arrows to scroll through them all.)

And now I’m off to attempt my first day of work in a while. If my boss (which would be Steve) comes in and finds me dozing at my desk, I’m sincerely hoping I will not be fired. Wish me luck!  ðŸ™‚

I hope you are feeling better soon. The ‘granny cap’ on Sarah’s baby head gave me a good laugh! She was adorable.

    Hi Becky,
So sorry to hear you’ve been feeling so sick- I hope you feel better soon! How is your arthritis feeling? Beautiful photos of your kids- they were such cute little kiddos. I have to share my exciting news- my baby niece was born on Saturday. They named her Madison Ann and she is super cute (I put a few photos on my blog). I am so excited to be an auntie to little Maddie! Kids are such a blessing.

      Jenna,

Big, BIG congratulations on becoming an aunt! Isn’t it the best? I know you will enjoy the moments of her being a newborn and ALL the years to come when you will a special part of her life.

My arthritis is actually doing better–thankful!

    Feel better soon Becky.
I love the one of Sarah in the cowboy hat. 🙂 I forgot she had blonde hair. Wil you post the graduation slide show here as well at some point? 🙂

    • Becky says:

      Trine,

Yes, I will DEFINITELY post the slide show here; I’m really excited about it! (But it won’t be until after June 15 when we show it at church.) 🙂

Oh Becky, I am hoping you’re feeling better SOON! Sorry that you have had such a rough several days. Love seeing the pictures of the ‘younger Sarah’ especially when she looks so healthy in all of them. You have two really awesome kids and a real treasure in Meagan and her family as well. And Noah…well he’s just precious and growing so fast! Get well so you can be ready for all those snuggles and lots of grandma time when they arrive. 🙂

      LeeAnne,

Your comment reminded me of what I was just thinking yesterday–I’m glad I’m sick NOW and not in two weeks when everyone is here!

  7. Could Sarah be any more photogenic? Beautiful!
I hope you feel better soon.

    • Becky says:

      Jessica,

Steve and i have always said she can’t take a bad picture. Now I, on the other hand, need 100 pictures taken to get one good one so she didn’t get the photogenic quality from me!

hope there was some benefit in the infusion along with all the misery.
fun pictures of Sarah… especially filling those big shoes, which I think she has accomplished in more ways than one.

      Mrs. Pam,

Actually, after three infusions, the Orencia has finally started kicking in and helping me. My hand pain is much, much better. This month’s reaction seems to be an exception to the rule since I was fine for the first two infusions.

Please feel better soon, Becky. You have certainly had a rough time of it lately. Prayers for you. The photos are great. It is so much fun to see the “younger Sarah” and photos we have not seen before – I love the one of her dressed in the long dress, tin type print – sort of speaks to her style even now – sophisticated, classy, traditional and fine! Meagan is such a sweetheart and so pretty. We need some more Noah photos. Take care of yourself. Rest.

P.S. If you are every in my area and want to visit my family farm, you just holler! We will visit because it is a dream place for photographs and wandering and solitude and memories.

    • Becky says:

      Mary,

You’re right–that old timey photo of Sarah is a good precursor of her style now. I hadn’t thought of that.

And I would certainly enjoy a visit to your family farm. You WILL hear me holler if we get close to your vicinity! 🙂
