It’s been so much fun reading your comments on Monday’s Grad Photo Post; I especially loved how so many different people had so many different favorite photos.
Whenever photos are taken, it’s always interesting to me to see the pictures behind the pictures so that’s what we’re going to do today.
Half of Sarah’s grad pictures were taken at a place on Roanoke Island called the Coastal Studies Institute which is a really cool building set out in the middle of nowhere.
At this time of year, the long driveway leading to the building is sprinkled with the loveliest of blossoms and blooms.
I realize these aren’t technically blooms but maybe we could call them blooms-to-be.
Stacy, our photographer extraordinaire, lost no time in putting the blooms, the blooms-to-be, and the grad-to-be to work! She and Sarah walked in a brisk and sprightly manner down the road . . .
while Steve and I followed in their footsteps at a speed that was slightly more sedate. And also slightly less sprightly.
As Sarah and Stacy forged on ahead . . .
Steve busied himself with checking the news on his phone . . ..
and also snapping a picture or two of me.
I spent most of my time taking pictures of all the interesting stuff around me; of course, one of the most interesting sights was watching Stacy and Sarah at work.
When we got the pictures back I was fascinated to see how this . . .
turned into this.
And this . . .
turned into this.
These two shots . . .
produced this shot.
And this shot . . .
turned into this bit of loveliness.
As Sarah and Stacy kept on working, Steve and I continued to mosey and meander.
We took in deep in deep breaths of soft, spring air and enjoyed the sight of water, grass and flowers everywhere we looked.
I can think of worse ways to spend an evening.
Before I close, I would like to request prayer for my nephew, Josh, who lives in Wisconsin. (He is the oldest son of my brother, Mark.)
Josh is thirty years old and in a diabetic coma. He is on a ventilator, his kidneys have failed and he is on dialysis. The outcome is looking bleak right now but we continue to pray and entrust him to God’s care.
Sarah’s life story gives such hope to others who face the horrible disease of childhood cancer. Hers is a story that needs to be shared over and over with grieving parents and grandparents. Your nephew, josh, is in my prayers.
Angela,
Thanks for your prayers for Josh; he’s back home and getting stronger every day. And you’re right–stories of hope need to be shared as much as they can because there are so many people who are in need of that hope.
Praying for Josh, his family and extended family. God is wonderful, through Him, all things are possible!
All of Sarah’s photos are beautiful! I love them all! Sarah is truly beautiful…inside as well as out!
Your photos behind the photos are terrific! Now we know “the.rest of the story” 🙂
Linda in Pittsburgh
Linda,
“The rest of the story” is often the best part of the story, isn’t it?
Beautiful pictures! Sarah is so photogenic! I am sorry about your nephew, Josh. That is really sad. Prayers for all…
Michele,
Thanks for your prayers (he’s doing better!) and your sweet words about Sarah.
Sarah amazes me. She is one of God’s true miracles. I pray He takes her far in life and all her dreams come true. I will be praying for your nephew.

I don’t think Sarah can take a bad picture….she’s so lovely! Praying for Josh here.
Jan,
You’re right about that–I have to work and work to get a good photo but she just stands there and ends up looking lovely, no matter what! 🙂
so sorry to hear about your nephew.. praying for Josh to be able to recover
Mrs. Pam,
Thank you–I am so glad to report he is doing better!
Have been praying for Josh since Steve posted on Facebook yesterday. Praying now that things have turned around for him.
Thank you so much, Cindy! He is awake now but still in critical condition.
I am so sorry to hear about your nephew; I really hope his health takes a significant turn for the better soon and that his medical team is able to provide the best of care to him. My thoughts are with him and those who love him.
What beautiful photos of your beautiful part of the continent. My favorite photo is the one of Sarah lying down on her back on the dock.
The happy news here is that sometime before tomorrow at lunch my beautiful baby niece be making her arrival and making me a first time auntie,! So happy!
Jenna,
Congratulations on becoming a first time auntie. Nothing more precious and amazing than a tiny new family member arriving in the world.

Michelle,
Sarah will go to our community college for 2 years and then transfer to Campbell University which is about 3 hours away. She wants to be a High School English teacher.
I always love your pictures and the story with them. Sarah is such a beautiful girl outside and your description of her describes her inner beauty. My prayers for Josh that he is strong and battles back from the coma. Have a blessed day!
Anonymous,
I know–aren’t picture stories the best? 🙂
Thank you so much for praying for Josh.
Oh, the contrast – praying fervently for Josh and all who love him.
Mary,
Thank you for the prayers and the compassion.
