There is a certain spot in Nags Head behind the Sugar Creek Restaurant that I occasionally pass on my way home from destinations further up the beach road. If I drive by this spot in the middle of the morning or early afternoon, I’m fine. No biggie. I barely give it a second glance.
However. If I happen to drive by at sunset?
I’m a goner.
I get on the phone and text Steve my usual line, “Honey, I’ve been detoured by a sunset.”
Translated that means, “Dinner is going to be late.”
The only sad part about this whole thing is that I have never once passed this place at sunset and had my Nikon with me. Although I always carry my 10-year old, purse camera along, it has its limitations. Someday I WILL accomplish this one particular photographic feat in my life—I will pass Sweet Water at sunset accompanied by my Nikon.
But I guess in the long run, it doesn’t really matter all that much because any day that lets me capture a sunset is a good day, indeed.
I think I see another set of cards soon being ready to offer for purchase!
Sheri,
I think you may be right!
This again confirms what I have always thought … I could retire at the beach and be one happy woman!
Karen,
I hear ya! 🙂
speaking of Nags Head… do you know if Tricia has been listed for new lungs yet?
Mrs. Pam,
I follow Nathan on Twitter and to my knowledge, she has not been listed. She had a procedure a few days ago to (hopefully) fix an issue she was having but it didn’t turn out the way Nathan hoped. Such a sweet couple and family.
Beautiful!
Thanks, Kristi. I love my sunsets!
Wow! They are ALL beautiful, however the second to the last one took my breath away. Incredible!
LeeAnne,
Hmmmm . . . .I had to go back and look at the one again. I like it, too! 🙂
Beautiful photos! I needed to see the ocean this morning too.
Jenna,
Nothing like a view of water to lift the heart!
Beautiful!
Jessica,
So glad you enjoy them!
Your purse camera does you proud or vice versa. Thank you – I needed to see the sea this morning. Still giggly about your NEWS. Just think of the photos you will be taking about 7 months or so. Hee hee!

Sunsets and grand babies-to-be. I’m a happy photographer.
