And so it begins . . .Crunch Week.
In preparation for our upcoming Easter production, we’ll have rehearsals Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. (Plus, Sarah had a rehearsal yesterday after church.) To make things even more interesting, Steve has had two funerals in the past two days and we’ve had two groups of out-of-town friends visiting in the area.
After this week’s line up of rehearsals, we’ll have Saturday off (except for tending to myriad last-minute details) and then Sunday we’ll have our regular morning service followed by the Easter production performances Sunday night, Monday night, and Tuesday night.
The drama, called “The Cynic, The Saint” was written by our associate pastor, Mary Ann Sherwood. It takes a look at the Easter story from a different perspective than what you usually hear–from the vantage point of James, Jesus’ half brother. At first, James didn’t believe in Jesus and the drama follows his story as he gradually moves from cynicism to a place of belief. (I designed the promo for the play.)
Steve is playing the role of James when he is older, hence, the beard. Another actor will play the younger James.
Steve has also been in charge of set design and construction.
In addition, he has designed and overseen the installation of the lighting and special effects.
We’ve had lots of rehearsals . . .
. . . and we’ve had lots of fun.
I’m looking forward to more crazy, busy, good, exciting, fulfilling, exhilarating days to come!

from Fran in Texas
wow… that’s going to be spectacular!
i’ve recently read a couple of fictional/historical novels… in one (maybe Ann Rice’s Out of Egypt ???) James was Joseph’s son from a previous marriage, and he accompanied Mary and Joseph (a widower) to Bethlehem…. a rather interesting take. In one he was actually a cousin, and all cousins were called either brothers or sisters.
Mrs. Pam,
I’ve never read any of Ann Rice’s books but Out of Egypt sounds interesting!
