Right around the time of my birthday, I got two cards in the mail.
One of them was from Nathan and Meagan. The other one was from Noah!
I always knew my grandson was smart but to be writing already? He is obviously one brilliant child.
This is what he had to say.
Hi Gran-ma,
Happy bird-day! (Why are we celebrating birds on March 8 again?)
Well anyway, I heard Mom and Dad were getting something for you so I decided in my old age (5 months) that I will not be outdone in the gifting of da Gran-ma so I decided to add in a little extra to my gift to beat mom and dad.
I just sold a couple shares from my baby food stock and pulled some more out of my long-term savings. Just want you to know I only give the best to my Gran-mas. Remember, mum is the word on beating mom and dad in gifting. Wouldn’t want them to know I already have a savings account. Keep it on the BL. (Bottom Load)
Ok. Nap time.
Love, Noah Jacksen
Now of course, it did occur to me that the writing on the card looked just a wee bit like Nathan’s but hey, what do I know? If my grandson wants to be a high achiever and start sending out his own birthday cards, I’m not going to argue!
As for the “little thing” he referred to that pushed his gift over the edge of being bigger than his parent’s? It was a quarter, taped to the inside of the card. (In addition to the paper money “he” put inside.)
He is definitely my most favorite grandson ever and in order to do the best job possible of being his gran-ma, I have to share a few photos with you. I mean, what good is a grandma if not to show off photos?
Meagan emailed these photos (with the accompanying captions) of Noah learning to roll over. (Not only does Noah write—he also talks!)
You want me to do what?
Okay, I’ll give it a try.
One, two, three, GO!
Yes I did it!
Yes! (Fist pump.) That was awesome!”
Mommy did you see what Daddy just taught me?”
Is he wonderful or what? Talking, writing, rolling . . . the kid’s got the whole package.
A few days after the rolling adventure, he went on an outing to the park where he had his first experience in a swing. Look at that face!
From what I can tell from the pictures, Meagan didn’t have just one fella to take to the park to play . . . she had two!
Nathan is a perfect example of a little kid in a man’s body; he has always had a playful side to him. I can see him at the age of 90 with that same delighted look on his face.
Of course, Nathan also did his Happy Dad Duty and played with Noah, and Noah’s cousin, Spencer.
I’m pretty sure that in this picture Noah is saying to himself, “Boy, I sure do miss my Gran-ma Smith.”
But then his mom and dad told him that he would be seeing me this summer and he got all happy again.
Love that boy!
Sooo adorable!
Kristi,
Thanks–I love that sweet smile!
So precious!
Elizabeth,
I would have to agree! 🙂
He is just so adorable. Don’t you just love seeing your son being with his son? Has to just double warm your mama heart!
Karen,
Love that word–double warm. That sums it up perfectly.
Oh my goodness Becky, he is incredibly adorable! ! You are so blessed to have such a darling little man in your life- and he is incredibly blessed to have such a loving delightful family, including a very special gran-ma!!
My sister in law and brother’s baby girl will be born in June and I can’t wait! ! I just wish they lived closer instead of half way across the country in Ontario! !
Jenna,
Well, I can relate to the angst of having distance between you and the people you love. It will just make those visits all the more precious!
Wonderful! Wonderful! Superb baby photos!! Please tell Nathan, “Fred likes your shirt and says BAZINGA!” 🙂
Fred,
I’m sure Nathan will see your comment and will “BAZINGA” right back atcha!
(Ummm. Whatever bazinga means.) 🙂
Hey Becky, Nathan’s shirt is from a TV sitcom about 3 physics professors and an engineering professor (I think) who share an apartment and teach at the same college. “Bazinga” is what they say when they have a good idea, win a game, something good happens, etc. I guess it’s the physics professor version of “Woo-Hoo.” — I’m pretty sure there were plenty of “Bazingas” when Noah did his roll-over! 🙂
(Maybe the lightning bolt is similar to the light bulb that comes on over a cartoon character’s head when he gets an idea.”)
Fred,
Ha. Got it!!
too cute! Noah sure did enjoy accomplishing that Roll Over…might be able to use that, too,
with his investments.
Mrs. Pam,
Love the “roll over” play on words!
Mrs. Pam – you are most definitely ON A ROLL today! 😉 ~ Fred
thanks, Fred!
Noah is so smart! AND so adorable!! Thanks, as always, for sharing the pictures. 🙂
LeeAnne,
It my privilege to share them . . . believe me!
Smiling so much my cheeks hurt! 😀 are those pics with Meagan’s new camera?
Amanda,
Yes, those ARE with her new camera. I told her I was impressed with the shots in the swing where Noah was clear and the background was blurred!
YAY! I was just thinking the other day that I was missing a Noah post. I can only speak for myself but I never tire of these and that is what Gran-Mas should do – post, post, post, pictures and stories of Noah. He is a doll and very intelligent and talented – gifts from his grandparents and Aunt Sarah for sure. I love his expression in the swing when Spencer is near. Shear joy of one kid to another. Actually, my grandson is in town for several days to visit his Maw Maw. My two daughters are going on a road trip to Lexington, KY tomorrow. My younger daughter is running a half marathon in Lexington – she gets to run through Keeneland Horse Park – oh, be still her heart! So, I will get to have fun with my grandson while they are gone for a couple of days. We are all excited. Go Stephanie! Run well, safe and happy! She is working her way back to a full marathon – taking her time after her surgery last summer.
Mary,
So glad to hear that Stephanie is running a half marathon already; good for her! I know your mama/grandma heart is especially happy right now.
always knew Noah would be smart! He is growing so quickly- beautiful child
Becky,
Yep, he’s growing way too quickly, especially since I don’t get to see him “in process.” I’m sure everytime we seem him, he’ll look a new kid!
