When Nathan and Meagan attended church with us during their Christmas visit, (Grandpa) Steve asked us all to come forward so that we could introduce the newest Smith Fella to the congregation.
Of course, everyone oohed and ahhed over the Cuteness That Was Noah.
After Steve had finished introducing Noah, he invited the congregation to join us in saying a brief prayer of dedication. It was a very sweet time for the church family and for our family.
When the service was over, I did my Grandma Thing and carted Noah around the room so that he could meet a few people face to face. He was an especially big hit with the ladies as he gurgled, giggled and drooled his way right into their hearts.
As big a hit as he was with the older church ladies, he was an even bigger hit with one particular younger church lady.
When Noah was first introduced to the lovely Miss Faith, he was all prepared to trot out his dashing personality and charming manner and make a resoundingly fabulous first impression. Sadly though, Faith decided to ignore her new suitor altogether. She didn’t care if he was the pastor’s grandson and good-looking on top of that—she was having nothin’ to do with him!
Noah tried to be all nonchalant about it but I could tell his masculine macho identity was taking a beating. He gazed thoughtfully into the middle distance as he wondered, “Ignore me? How can any woman possibly be ignore me? Me, of all people! This is obviously a situation that needs to be remedied. And rectified. And fixed!” (Noah inherited his Grandma Smith’s love for the thesaurus.)
And so Noah came up with a plan. He thought, “If I can just think of a few funny stories with which to regale Miss Faith, I betcha she’ll notice me then!”
And sure enough. It wasn’t long at all until Noah’s winsome wonderfulness won the day. Faith started smiling and Noah knew he had won her heart. In fact, the more she smiled the more charming he got and the more charming he got, the more she smiled.
It was a match made in heaven.(Or at least a match made in the church lobby.)
Noah has already proven himself to be a specialist at winning hearts and making the church ladies smile.
But more importantly than that? Noah knows how to make his grandma smile!
Love that boy!
Adorable!
Carrie,
I have to agree!
So cute – such a great picture of the two of you too! #SITSBlogging
Becky,
The two of us make a pretty great pair!
What a dapper little man! I love baby dedications. I cried in front of the congregation during the dedication of my babies. It is such a beautiful moment. 🙂
Stopping by from the SITS Comment Fest.
Chasity,
Yes, they are a special time. Babies are good at giving us reasons for happy tears!
What a cutie! I love your story about Noah and Faith. I’m also a grandma and I can’t think of anything better than that. It’s wonderful!
Carla,
Being a grandma is pretty cool! Whoever knew we could enjoy it so much! Thanks for stopping by!
He is the cutest – nothing better than being a grandma – you thought you were proud as a mama, but boy, oh, boy there is something a little bit prouder being a grandma! Gotta be one to understand.
Mary,
You’re right. You really can’t put it into words–you have to experience it!
Oh my gosh! What a cute story! Love the pics. Isn’t being a grandparent just the best?!? I have 2 little ones and they are just the apple of my eye. Nothing better than playing with them, sleepovers and teaching moments. And the biggest bonus is they go home! No having to deal with the “raising” them part. Nothing is more precious than life through the eyes of a child; it really keeps you young.
Barb,
Sounds like the voice of experience! 🙂 I’m looking forward to many grandmothering moments over the next few decades!
what a sweet boy!!! love your site, thanks for sharing!
Becky,
Anyone who has a blog called the Cookie Rookie is okay in my book! 🙂 Love the rhyme and the humor behind that title. Thanks for coming by!
What a cutie! I’m going to be a grandma for the first time this summer and can’t wait 🙂
Bloginspire,
You are in for more than a treat–you are in for a treasure. Enjoy!!
Aww. what a sweetie! That’s pretty much how my parents react when they are around my little boys too 🙂
Brittany,
We grandparents just can’t help ourselves! 🙂
You weren’t kidding! What a ladies man 😉
The Flair Exchange,
Nope. No kidding, here! The kid has got the moves!
What cuties! My parents just became grandparents for the first time and they LOVE it!
Bev,
You can always tell first time grandparents by the glow on the horizon. It just sort of follows them around!
Oh my, so sweet! I love these pictures! Babies are the most precious gifts <3
Carissa,
So very, very precious!
What a cutie! Love the pictures.
Cecile,
Thanks. I think he’s pretty cute myself! 🙂
Such a sweet post. He’s adorable. Congrats!!
Ashley,
Thank you! And I love your profile pic! 🙂
Grandma and Noah sure know how to tell a good story! So funny. Looking forward to the day when we can meet that young man in person!
Deb,
Yep. When you first see him smile in person, you will be utterly smitten. And smitten is good!
This was the cutest thing ever! Congratulations to you on your sweet grand baby. What a dear baby. I loved that he made his friend smile in her sleep : ). Some people call that gas, but whatever. I am totally going with your cute story!
Life with Kaishon,
Gas? Naw. Miss Faith is too lady like to even HAVE gas! 🙂
HAHA I was thinking gas too…whether it was Faith or Noah’s gas that made her smirk I wasn’t sure.
Cassi,
Let’s just pretend we didn’t use “gas” and “Miss Faith” in the same sentence! 🙂
AWW! Just what I needed to smile today, tons of cuteness!! Thanks for sharing.
So glad to have found you in todays SITS Blogging comment group 🙂
Ashley,
Glad I was able to share a smile with you. Thanks so much for dropping by from SITS!
Like father like son 🙂 He comes by his charm honestly. I love both my charming men.
Meagan,
How right you are. Those are two charming men you live with.
Always nice to hear from you, sweet daughter!
He is such a beautiful little man. Love the last picture. Love is written all over your face.
Anonymous,
This grandma loves her little man!!
Oh my….Sir Noah is just way too sweet. 🙂 The time between visits and the distance can be tough. Might I suggest getting the TOMY Sweet Messages Photo Bug. It looks like a butterfly and the wings are picture frames. (5×7 pictures, I believe) There is space for 8 photos and a message can be recorded to go with each photo. I bought one for each of my grandkids, so that when we can’t be there, they can see us and hear our voices and especially the great grandparents who are over 500 miles away. I found mine on Amazon. Check it out!
Thanks for sharing the photos. Cuteness overload!! 🙂
LeeAnne,
Thanks for suggesting the TOMY. I’d never heard of it but will definitely look into it. I’m wide open for any idea that make that distance me and my charming fella seem a little shorter.
Oh Becky…… He’s BEAUTIFUL…… Absolutely, positively BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
Dianna,
Thank you–you are so sweet to say so! But of course it’s true! 🙂
So sweet! What a cutie he is!
Joleen,
He’s sure got the “lady skills” down pat!
What a great story! He’s so wise already, knowing how to impress the ladies. What a wonderful baby he is.
Jan,
Yes, charm is his middle name. And as Meagan said in an earlier comment, he comes by it naturally!
great post & awesome photo of you and Noah. Have a great day
Becky,
I love being a grandma! 🙂
