Last night at 9:30, the boy who made me a grandma was born.
Noah Jacksen Smith was 7 pounds, 12 ounces and 19 inches long; in Nathan and Meagan’s words, he is perfect in every way. The tone in Nathan’s voice when he called was one I’ve never heard before in all the 24 years I have loved him–definitely a “proud of my amazing wife, in love with my handsome son, in awe of the experience I have just gone through, so stoked about being a dad” kind of tone.
Meagan gave birth with no pain meds and in Nathan’s words was absolutely incredible.
Thanks to all of you who have left comments and have been back checking in for news–I wanted to wait until Nathan and Meagan had both posted the news to FB before I wrote about the Big Event here.
And now it’s time to tie up five bazillion last minute details and hit the road for our 13 hour trip. We can’t leave until 8 a.m. because we have to take Summer to the kennel, so that buys me a few extra precious minutes of scurrying around accomplishing stuff before the three of us leave. I am so thankful Noah was born near a weekend so that Sarah can make the trip with us.
Hard to believe that in just a few hours, I will hold my grandson. Noah, you are blessed and you are loved. Welcome!
(Many pictures to follow.)
Thrilled for all of you! She had him quickly for a first baby!!! Don’t know what I would have done without pain meds!!

Dear Grandma,
Where is Noah registered?
I can’t believe Meagan went w/out epideral? She so rocks!
Enjoy every minute of your trip! He’s such a perfect boy! One of his firsts was to wait until his Auntie had a long weekend (Monday is a Holiday for her school, right)?
Can’t wait for pics! Safe travels!
Jodi,
They are registered at Walmart and Target. And yes, Meagan does rock. She did an amazing job giving birth and is an amazing mom.
Unfortunately Sarah DOES have school on Monday but she’ll end up only missing two days total. So worth it!
You cannot BEGIN to imagine how much you will love Noah!
Congratulations to all of you.Prayers for safe uneventful travels today.
Just as I was getting on to Blogger this am to check for blog updates, I was wondering if there was going to be a baby announcement. Congrats and safe travels!
