Merry-ness

December 25, 2017

Good merry morning to you!

Our 2017 Family Christmas Card.

(Note: we have about 5 cards left over. If you would like to get one in the mail, just say so in the comments and then email your address to me at smithellaneousATyahoo.com)

Here are a few photos of Noah and Madi in their church Christmas program.  You just can’t have too many cute kid pictures at Christmas.

Our Christmas Day includes Steve leaving for the hospital in Norfolk soon to be with one of our church families during surgery.  Another dear family in our church realized we’ve had a busy two weeks of travel so they are bringing a fully cooked Christmas meal to us today. (Speaking of travel, we were on the road sixteen hours on Friday!)  We will get around to opening presents sometime this evening.

Yesterday in the service, we had our final installment of Happy Sock Sunday.

The wonderful DeHart Girls sang for us.

Isn’t our decorating team amazing?  I am so blown away by people who have the gift of making things so beautiful!

There was a fun surprise for us all when the visiting father of one of our attendees brought a whole cartload of candies he had made to give out after service.

I was especially amazed by the jewelry boxes with little goodies (including a cameo) inside.

I will leave you with a couple of photos of my current view.

I also want to leave you with wishes of peace on earth, peace in your home, and peace in your heart in this coming year.

I still have your card from last year. I guess I read this too late for this year (had a computer malfunction)..

A belated Merry Christmas and early Happy New Year! I am back to work today after being off from December 16 thru yesterday. One might think I got lots of rest – wrong! Pictures of the grandbabies are cute. They have such cute dresses for little girls at Christmas. Looks like Noah is really getting with the song, Madison a little and the little guy in between, not so much.

      Phyllis,

I agree–Christmas breaks don’t offer too much time to get rest! But at least they DO offer a break from regular stuff and that is refreshing in itself.

I love seeing pictures of little kids singing; as you said, each face tells a story! 🙂

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Becky. Love the children singing at the service. Your grandbabies are adorable. Very nice way of doing the Christmas card, including everyone like that. I may try it next year. Do you usually stay up till midnight on New year’s?

    • Becky says:

      Lesley,

Yes, I love including the whole family. It may get kind of crowded as the years go by or maybe one year, it will just be Steve and me. But for now, it’s the whole crew.

As a rule I do NOT stay up till midnight on NYE because I am early- to- bed kind of gal. But I might surprise myself (and everyone who knows me) by doing that sometime! The town of Manteo is having a big to do on the waterfront with music, fireworks, food, etc. Nice to see a community offer something like that.

Your tree looks beautiful! So nice to sit and enjoy them when the rush is over. The little ones are adorable! Someone took a lot of time to make all those candies! I wouldn’t have the patience. There was a couple with the last name DeHart that lived a couple doors down from me where I grew up, all I remember is that her name was Eileen and I believe their daughter was named Theresa.
Busy day of cooking today, ham, sweet potato casserole, scalloped potatoes, fresh green beans and crescent rolls, just for the two of us. We had invited a friend, but he wasn’t feeling up to it after doing the snow, so we took a dinner over to him. Oh, and candied pecans which I can’t stop eating!
    Merry Christmas!

      Kari,

Your meal for two sounds fabulous! And how nice of you to include someone else in your festivities. The truest meaning of Christmas.

I don’t think I’ve ever met another DeHart before. Interesting you used to know someone by that name!

Merry Christmas to you and your family! I was excited to see you included everyone on your Christmas card! We do that every year with my sister and her family and have never seen anyone else do it. Hope you all enjoyed your day!

    • Becky says:

      Christina,

We kind of got in the habit of doing it and have loved the idea of being together as a whole family on the card. Glad you guys do it, too!

      Merry Christmas.

Merry Merry Christmas Smith family! If you still have any, I’d love to receive one of your cards; I especially loved the “Joy” side! Enjoy your time in Florida and have safe travels home.

Getting late in the day, but know you had a great time with family. So glad you were able to spend it with them. Those darling pictures of the kids, you just can’t say enough because it just brings gladness of heart to see them. A blessed and ?Happy New ?Year to all of you.

Merry Christmas and a blessed 2018. So happy you could spend time with so many family members during the short Christmas season. Memories and family make it such a wonderful time. Remembering our Savior who came to be born of a virgin to give us eternal life is what it is all about and how we treasure that. Enjoy your day and safe travels for Steve. Loved the pictures of Noah and Madi.

    • Becky says:

      Ann,

You’re so right–memories and family make Christmas extra special. Hugs and merry greetings to you and that wonderful hubby of yours.

Merry Christmas to our dear friends!!!

Merry Christmas Becky. Wow after the past couple weeks you’ve lived, to be up so early on Christmas morning. This is my favorite time of the day, dark morning with only the Christmas lights and my cup of warmth. The dog & cats prowling around wanting to go outside only to be hit by the cold north wind, the wind chill is below zero this morning, when the door is opened. They hurry back to their warm sleeping spots and I return to watching the sun rise behind the Christmas tree and the start of a new day. There is another reason I’m up, Al & I had agreed no gifts and I should have known he’d get me “a little something”. As I was feeling guilty about not getting him a gift, prayer answered, baked him a blueberry pie should be ready for him to eat when he gets up. Have a wonderful restful day!

    • Becky says:

      Karen,

I have a hard time sleeping in; almost always up by 6.

I agree about morning being the faorite time of day especially at Christmas with all the lights. And I loved your words about “the sunrise behind the tree.” Sounds absolutely gorgeous!
