We are about to hit the road for a two-day trip to Wisconsin and since I have a suitcase to unravel and hair to untangle, I’m just going to quickly post a few random pictures from our Washington Jaunt yesterday. While we’re traveling, I’ll have time to work on a proper post. (As opposed to an improper post, I suppose!
National Cathedral
Here they were getting ready for a choral concert that will be held tonight; the risers and chairs are temporary.

And finally?
A most delectable almond cake. (And I didn’t feel one bit guilty because I knew I’d already walked off 3,000 calories before I even lifted the fork for the first time.)
And now it’s happy trails to us . . .
I’d give my right front tooth for a head of hair as thick as Sarah’s looks in this picture!!
Jojy,
The “right front tooth line” made me laugh. Never heard that phrase before but it’s a good one! And yes, Sarah really is blessed with nice, thick hair.
Wow, didn’t even know we had a national cathedral. I should realy get to Washington soon.
Luke,
And what a cathedral it is–absolutely awe-inspiring.
If you are there on a Sunday-be sure to attend a service. It is a great experience.
Sarah-you are sitting in my most favorite spot to sit-inside the Lincoln Memorial. I usually sit leaning against a pillar though-I’m a bit lazy!
Patti,
That is so funny that you like sitting in there, too! Sarah just mentioned that she would like a picture of her looking at the huge display on the wall and so I took it. I think leaning against a pillar would be more to my liking too, but I guess she’s young enough to not need the pillar support.
I started my “tradition” on a hot day so the coolness inside was refreshing. I enjoyed watching the people running up the stairs laughing, counting, talking… and then the stillness as they entered and saw the grand statue. So many were suddenly quiet and it seemed a hush inside. I did however, break tradition on my last trip in March and did not sit down. I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to get back up. I had to settle for leaning against the pillar!
