Good Family. Good Times!

May 6, 2016

Greetings from Portage, Wisconsin!

Today I am going to take a meandering drive through the lovely Wisconsin countryside, back to the town where I grew up. I will have a full tank of gas, no deadlines to keep, and Mr. Nikon riding shotgun.

Thankfully, I have very understanding family members who don’t think it’s a weird thing for their recently arrived, out-of-town guest to go riding off into the sunset.

Unfortunately, I had a family member at the other end of my trip who was not quite as understanding.

As I started to pack, Summer took a disapproving gander at me from the across the hall where she was snoozing.

She promptly joined me in the bedroom . . .

planted her 6-pound self on my clothes and said . . .

“You are not NOT leaving this house.”

Much to her disappointed dismay, she was not able to dissuade me.

I drove to Norfolk and grabbed a hotel room . . .  ($45 on Priceline!)

and got up at 3 a.m. Thursday morning  in order to get to the Norfolk airport by 5 a.m.  I took off with the sunrise.

Stopped in Detroit . . .

and then it was on to the Madison airport where I was greeted by my own personal mother, own personal youngest sister, and own personal brother-in-law.

And then it was on to Randy and Debbie’s house where she had laid out this festive arrangement for me. Chocolate and a smile.

I’m so glad you’ve been able to get back to the beautiful state of Wisconsin for a visit. We’ve just returned yesterday from a visit to Springfield Mo to welcome a new grand daughter and enjoy 3 of our grandsons, and of course their parents. When it comes to visiting family, it seems there is just never enough time to do everything you want to do together after spending so much time apart.

Truly. It’s a lovely place. Pictures and stories to come!

SO happy you get to spend time with your family – especially your sweet mom! And don’t you just love that fountain in the Detroit airport? I always giggle when I see little kids walk right up to it and lean on it – they look so surprised when they realize their little bellies are getting wet! Hope you have a blessed visit with your people and store up lots of precious memories.
