Thank you for joining our family during Sarah Smith Week and celebrating with us over her big day yesterday. We marked the occasion by giving her a couple gifts (that I got at a thrift store), making a couple speeches to her (which made her cry), going out to eat (which we hardly ever do), and going to a movie. (The Life of Pi–which we loved but didn’t really understand.)
And today? Today is a day of nothing’ but joy. No sad cancer pictures, no sad stories. We will end our big week with a big album full of pictures of the life of a survivor. Note: I didn’t realize the variety of hairstyles Sarah has sported over the years until I put this album together. I guess that since Sarah was bald for a year, getting to have new hairstyles takes on a whole new meaning!
Since I doubt anyone (except my mom) is going to look at ALL the pictures, you can just scroll down and click on the circle of any particular picture you want to see full size. Or you can click on the first picture and quickly scroll through the full size album from there.
Again, thank you for following our journey. You are part of the story; you are part of the family.
Beautiful Sarah! Been such a pleasure to see her grow up – I haven’t been her since the beginning but almost-ish 🙂
Trine, you HAVE been around here a long time, haven’t you? Thanks for being a part of Sarah’s growing up years; hard to believe she’s almost eighteen!
Since 2006 I found your website just when she had relapsed. I remember the bike picture as the first picture I saw of her which is also included here. Wow I was only 16 myself back then…
Wrong!!! 🙂 I looked at each and every picture. And what came to mind is WHAT A GREAT LIFE!!! Love these pictures. I always knew Sarah was beautiful but those pictures capture her … her life, her love, her zeal (and the photographer’s love and devotion, too). Yay Sarah!!!!!! Keep it up 🙂
Paige, thanks for taking the time to look at ALL those many pictures! And thanks too, for your sweet words about Sarah and about Sarah’s photographer. 🙂 Since I love taking pictures so much, I’m thankful to have a willing (and lovely) subject.
Jan, always nice to hear from an “old timer.” And I mean that in the nicest possible way! 🙂
Isn’t it just so true that our kids get older and bigger way too fast? I know it makes us want to grab each day and treasure it.
And I’m amazed you took the time to look at every picture–thanks!
I scrolled through each and every picture of your sweet Sarah! I feel like I have seen them all over the last ten years! I can’t believe it’s been ten years! Time sure does fly!
I especially love your writings about your children…your words are definitely the way I feel about our kids getting older and bigger… It just goes by fast!
With much love and many blessings to you and your family Becky! Thanks for sharing a bit of your love of being a Mom with all of us.

P.S.
Tell Sarah that I love her hair with her bangs grown out! 🙂
xo
I’m so thankful for Sarah. Thankful that God has healed her, and that you have shared her story and all of your lives with us. I will always keep you guys in my prayers. It would be so cool to be able to meet you one day. Lots of love from Kingston, TN

Kim, well, if you’re ever in the Outer Banks area, give us a jingle! Thanks for the prayers over the years and for being such a faithful blog reader.
Congratulations on your 10 year anniversary!!! Sarah is a beautiful girl. What I am especially struck by by in the photos is the look in her eyes. In the early years there is so much spunk and exuberance and pure joy in her eyes, even in the treatment years. In recent years her eyes have such peace and calm and wisdom beyond her years. Her eyes tell a story of how she has been through so much and as such has experienced first hand the blessing of God carrying her in the hardest of times. Her life is a gift.
Jenna, I can see exactly what you’re talking about–there is definitely hard won wisdom and peace in her eyes now that probably wouldn’t be there without all the suffering she experienced. The eyes certainly do tell a story, don’t they?
I’ve said it before… Sarah should definitely be a professional model.
She is just soooooo gorgeous.
I haven’t seen a movie in years, and I decided I wanted to see Life of Pi because it had closed caption, and then it was no longer at that theater. Maybe that was lucky if it was not understandable!
Mrs. Pam, even though I didn’t completely understand the Life of Pi, I would still recommend it. It’s a gorgeous movie and tells a very inspiring story. The cinematography is amazing.
I love how many pictures ( I saw them all) have Snowy in them. He was such a part of the family. Also, I must be an old-timer to the blogs since I had seen all but one of those pictures before. 🙂
Lisa, yes, Snowy was a pretty frequent picture-inhabiter, wasn’t he? And I’m amazed you’ve seen all but one picture before–you really HAVE been around here a long time. Wow!
Becky, what a beautiful tribute to a beautiful girl.
Lisa, thanks so much. It was a joy to put together.
Enjoyed the entire week and so happy for the ending. All the Smiths are special to us including the two latest ones. Take care and God bless.
Ann, nothing better than a happy ending! 🙂
Joyful, joyful for sure. I also was very touched in the entry about Snowy when you told of Nathan’s little boy tears of joy when he received Snowy for Christmas. What a wonderful boy and a very special young man and husband. Too many times I overlook commenting on that great guy of yours. Thank you for continuing to share your family with us. I have learned so much about family, love and faith. Sounds like your celebration with Sarah was just perfect.
Mary, thanks for taking the time to notice Nathan’s many contributions to our family; he was such an incredible kid during the years of Sarah’s treatment. It was a tough time for him personally but he was still such a great big brother to Sarah when she needed him. Those two have got a special bond.
Lovely photos of a lovely gal!
Krista, thanks so much! Lots of photos; lots of love!
