Yesterday morning at 6:05 a.m. this is what our driveway looked like. All three cars. Gone.
Sarah was at work, Steve was at church with a couple guys who meet every morning for prayer, and I was headed to Greenville for my infusion.
Whenever I take a solo journey out of town, I always try to leave at least half an hour early so I can nab some Early Morning, Golden Hour, Delectable Light Moments.
Happily, yesterday morning was full of those moments. Unhappily, though, as soon as I started shooting said moments, the battery on Mr. Nikon rolled over and died. Feet waving in the air, and everything.
Now, I always have one battery in my camera, one battery in my purse and one battery in my camera bag so I am (usually) never without a battery. The only thing I can think that happened is that I just didn’t get everything rearranged and reorganized after getting back from New Mexico. Lesson learned.
But the morning was too beautiful to pass by so I set down the Nikon and grabbed my iPhone. Pure joy. Pure beauty.

Non-pictorial note: My platelets were checked again at yesterday’s appointment and although they are still way below low/normal, they are at least holding steady. So I’m happy about that and, overall, feeling quite a bit better.
Lovely photos, Becky. I too was afraid it was a car battery. Hope the platelets improve soon.
Liz, glad you enjoyed the photos. Dead camera batteries are better than car batteries!
echoing Ann… I thought car battery, too.
When my NEW car was couple of months old, the battery died. got it charged and exchanged for another battery.
AGAIN, BATTERY DIED, WAS CHARGED AND REPLACED. feared I had a real lemon in a car with all the dumb reasons
they gave me. fortunately, whatever the problem was, it was solved.
Go, platelets, go!!!
Mrs. Pam,
I can’t imagine having two batteries fail on a NEW car. No fun!
Glad you’re starting to feel better & that your platelets are holding! Hope you have a quiet & relaxing weekend!
Thanks, Jodi. Except for my blog issues, it’s been great! 🙂
Beautiful pictures, Becky! When I saw the title, I thought, “Oh NOOO!!” and figured you were going to mention a dead car battery. When going on an out of town journey, without a spare vehicle handy, that is especially NOT GOOD. While your Nikon does a really fine job with picture taking, the ol phone’s not a bad back-up! I think your artist’s eye has something to do with that! I’m happy things are at least holding steady with your platelets, and that you are feeling better.
Ann,
Yes, I’m thankful for my Nikon AND my iPhone. So nice to have back up options.
Beautiful! So glad to hear your platelets are holding steady!
Guerrina,
Steady is good!
So happy you’re feeling better. Beautiful pictures too, phone camera notwithstanding! 🙂
Love, Deb
Thanks, Deb. And it’s nice to see “notwithstanding” in a sentence. 🙂
Glad you had your phone. Beautiful pictures. I do not get up that early unless there is a trip to be made. So happy about platelets on their own.
Sorry meant holding their own.
Ann,
I am definitely an early morning gal!
Ahhhh…beautiful pictures once again. Even with an IPhone. 🙂 I just love that time of day when everything is waking up and it is so quiet and peaceful.
I’m happy to hear that your platelets are stable and that you are feeling better. Have a happy Labor Day weekend!
LeeAnne,
I know. As beautiful as sunsets are, nothing quite measures up to the newness of a sunrise.
