It’s a pretty traumatic experience when someone as computer-dependent as I am has been without her computer for a whole week. (It’s being repaired.) I have had to cobble together blog posts from hither and yon since all of my blog rough drafts and most of my pictures are on the computer that is missing in action.
Thankfully, I get to go pick it up this afternoon which will make for one very happy reunion.
In the meantime, Sarah is graciously letting me use her computer which is all fine and dandy except that none of my stuff is on her computer– which takes me back to my original point: it’s tough to write on one’s blog without having one’s own blogging materials!
So today’s blog will consist of a variety of pictures I found on Sarah’s computer. In no particular order, and on no particular subject, here are some Smith Shots from days gone by–brought to you courtesy of the computer in the shop.
Graduation.
.
He has always made her smile.
Ponderments. (Probably wondering when her mom is going to stop taking her picture already.)
One of Nathan’s last visits home before he got married.
A couple of days before Nathan and Meagan’s wedding.
An all-time favorite shot of my girl.
The Smith Wisdom coming through. (Or not.)
Loveliness personified. (The following two pictures taken by Pamela Doughty.)
Cute and quirky.
Cute and introspective.
A precious, precious sight.
First car! New license! Happy day!
First glimpse of that grandson of mine.
Working on a video project for school.
At the gun range at my sister, Ruth, and her husband’s home in Wisconsin.
A musical presentation at church.
Christmas card photo from 2012.
Sarah (12th grade) at a high school up the beach. She was shadowing an English teacher and was also asked to speak the class for a few minutes.
Dad. Daughter. Smiles.
Steve’s parents at their wedding–61 years ago! If it wasn’t for them, there wouldn’t even BE a Steve, or a Nathan, or a Sarah or a Noah–or a Smithellaneous!
Don’t ask me what they’re doing because (as usual) I have no clue.
Sarah and me when she was a newborn. Her hair looks great; mine is just slightly overwhelming. What were we thinking back in the 90’s?
Two of my all time favorite people.
It’s not too surprising that their marriage started off with a few giggles. They haven’t stopped laughing yet.
About twelve years old here.
Laughing at grandpa.
So happy she’s tall enough for the ride!
Love.
And more love.
Thanks for hanging out for a few minutes at Smithellaneous today . . . it’s always great to have you drop by.
Very enjoyable to see those great family photos! I liked the “Smith Wisdom” best! 😉
Twin Clarinets,
I like that one, too! 🙂 So funny.
the hair faze I remember (in which I did not partake) was the beehive, and stories that folks had some type of bugs that burrowed in, and ate the scalp…. oh, my! that was sorta nightmarish.
always fun to see great photos.
Mrs. Pam,
Bugs in the hair? No thank you. Of course, I guess if it’s called a BEE hive, it would make sense to have a few things buzzing about. 🙂
What a fun trip down memory lane, thanks for sharing. Glad your computer is fixed and back home with you. You must have been nuts without it. What did we ever do without them?! My prayer for you after seeing today’s photos is that God continue to bless you and yours.
Hugs to you alll…
Linda in Pittsburgh
Linda,
Yes, I was one happy woman when I finally picked it back up. As for what we did without them? I have no idea. Makes me wonder what inventions we’re living without now that in twenty years will be indispensable. Food for thought! 🙂
I so enjoyed looking at the pictures.♥ You’re blessed with a beautiful family. 🙂
Melanie,
Thanks. It’s fun to take a look backward sometimes, isn’t it?
Great pictures. My hair never looked like that in the 90’s. My only curls were by perms. During the 90’s mine was short but not that much hair.
Ann,
You were lucky not to have the “radar dome” hair as Steve fondly calls it.
Love trips down memory lane! 80s-90s hair…who didn’t do it! Mine had a spiral perm and was still below my shoulder blades! Kinda wish I had that much hair now lol
Guerrina,
A spiral perm? Girl, you were stylin’!!
That second picture of Sarah where she’s shadowing an English teacher, right above Dad. Daughter. Smiles. – she looks just like you.
That should be Phyllis not Phyll
Phyllis,
I’m always happy to hear that Sarah looks like me–it doesn’t happen often. I’ve heard some people say she looks more like Steve and Nathan looks more like me!
Well, that was fun. Can you post some more? LOL. I am all snowed/iced in up here and am running out of things to do 😉 And now, after I bundled all up to brave the elements and check the mailbox at the end of the driveway (which was, of course empty)…I come back in, get my warm pjs on and settle in to the computer, I see the mail truck go by. Grrrrr……Which means now I have to go back out again to get the mail because if I don’t then the wind will blow the end piece open and all my mail will fly out.
These are the things.
Lesley,
Brrr. I had an involuntary shiver just READING your post! I hope you got your mail collected safely and were able to tuck in for the rest of the day.
Great pictures, and I had that 80’s/90’s hair thing going on too, plus being a Jersey girl, the more hair spray I put on , the better!
Dale,
Ha. Love the Jersey girl line. 🙂
What a fun walk down memory lane! I love the picture of you and an older Sarah together. I don’t remember seeing that one although I’m sure I must have. And that 90’s hair?!?! I did it too. Oh my. It’s really fun to get those pictures out and hear my kids’ reactions to the old hair styles….LOTS of laughs! 🙂
LeeAnne,
Well, our kids’ kids will laugh at THEIR hair someday. Somehow, that comforts me. 🙂
I remember Sarah’s black-and-white polka-dot dress… I loved those pictures!
Kristina,
You and me, both. Those were some of my favorites. I distinctly remember the day we found that dress in a store and I thought, “That is absolutely perfect. A little grown up, a little quirky, a whole lot fun!”
Only drawback was that we didn’t find it at a thrift store. Oh well!
thanks for sharing. I love the one of Nat, Sarah and Noah- I don’t think you had ever posted that one or I missed it. I also really like the quirky hat pix- beautiful young lady inside and out
Becky,
That one of the three of them together makes me smile every time I see it. So very, very sweet to see that new chapter of their lives unfolding.
Good memories.
Steve,
Millions of ’em!
