Although I consider myself to be a creative person in several areas, my creativity tends to dry right up when it comes to crafts, sewing, art and other creative pursuits involving hands on manipulation of materials with the intent of creating something lovely.
And so you can imagine my great joy (and also surprise) when I actually came up with an idea all by myself! That was actually sort of cool! And caused the ladies at the event I hosted to compliment it!
People, this has never happened even once before in my entire life and so I really think we all need to take a moment to do a happy dance for my rare display of crafty creativity.
So what did I do, exactly?
Well, I was puttering through my shelves trying to find some candles when suddenly my eyes lit on two things in quick succession: empty Starbuck’s frappuccino bottles and a package of tea lights.
I looked at those two things and a dim light burst forth in my brain. “Hmmm,” thought I. “Is it possible that yon tea lights would actually fit on top of yon bottles!”
And lo (and also, behold), they did!
And then I had yet another creative thought (two in a row!) and thought I’d try putting something inside the bottles to make them more colorful. So I did.
I suppose you could also use colored tissue paper, a string of mini white lights, colored glass, colored sand done in layers, etc. But I happened to have some confetti on hand so that’s what I used.
Add some Christmas colors and this could be a fun addition to your holiday festivities. The possibilities are many!
By the way, if you have an extra moment or two, would you consider pinning this post (or just the picture below) to your Pinterest page? Just hover over the picture to see the Pinterest logo. Thank you!
Yesterday went out to my car and realized, no keys. We’ll the words crap and crud came to my mind, but out came crup. That’s my new word.
Sharyn,
I love it when new words are created out of necessity. 🙂
Quick, simple and pretty…just the way I like crafts. 🙂
Nicole,
Simple being the operative word . . . for met at least! 🙂
I tried sending a message yesterday but it wouldn’t go thru I guess, as I don’t see it. I was so excited over a new things I could doo. I drink Snapple and as I went to get an empty Snapple bottle and a tea light I was thinking how to decorate the bottle. but alas….. the tea light is bigger than the opening so it wont work with Snapple bottles. still a great idea.
Sharon,
Thanks for taking the time to rewrite your message; sometimes little glitches crop up. Well, it’s good to know that a Snapple bottle is a different size than a tea light; it could be, though, that there ARE different bottles besides Starbucks that the idea will still work with. We’ll have to keep our eyes open!
FUNNY, YOU SHOULD ASK….. I’ve been making Christmas ornaments for the folks at church : “Sew ‘n Stuff” (like mini pillows). the choir’s fabric is a musical print with holly leaves. I’ve also sewn 55 other ornaments with hand drawn Cogsley, the name of our sheep mascot. COGS stand for Church of the Good Shepherd… hence the name Cogsley, which sounds more like a name a sheep would answer to than Cogs.
Mrs. Pam,
It seems like you are unceasingly creative! I admire that fact about you as well as what you DO with your creativity, always busy making or sewing something for someone else. You’re an inspiration!
What a great idea. I’m sure many will be using this idea. Now I’ve just got to start buying those bottles.
Sharyn,
It’s funny because we don’t even drink those drinks any more; I bought a few of them for Steve a few years ago and can’t believe I was still carrying the empties around!
I believe that I can even do this – thanks for sharing. and only because you like things to be correct – I believe your computer changed your spelling on display to dispaly or is dispaly one of your new words for the day? If so what does it mean? Becky
Becky,
Well, I’d love to say that dispaly is my new word for the day but unfortunately, it was just a spelling goof. Thanks for pointing it out; I went back in and fixed it! 🙂
I use your new words when you share them with us at the dinner table and I was excited to have one maybe they wouldn’t know- will be waiting for your next new word
Becky,
Well, I’m honored that my miscellaneous word choices make it to your dinner table. I suppose we could make dispaly into a word and create a definition for it! 🙂
Atta girl, Becky!!! I’m very impressed – you see, I’m a “non-crafty” still waiting for that first creative idea! 🙂
Very pretty!
Angela,
Thanks for cheering me on in my one crafty creative moment! If it can happen to me, it can happen to you!!
pretty Bec, don’t let the confetti start in fire! Candles are so nice to have out this time of year, I light them every night.(rather, Levi does it a lot.) quick crafts are good, if it takes too long or too many steps involved, I look elsewhere. So now I can look here, at my own sister’s easy idea! Thanks. Ruth
Ruth,
I do love candles of all varieties, especially those that make the house smell wonderful. But don’t get too excited about finding any more crafty ideas from me; I’m pretty sure this will be my only one! Tell Levi that Aunt Becky says good job on the candle lighting!
