Steve and I are in Sunset Beach, NC, staying here . . . .
overlooking this view from our room . . .
. . . and listening to this man speak.
Gordon MacDonald has, for many years, been an absolutely favorite writer of both Steve and me and we were delighted to find out he was the scheduled speaker for our annual minister’s retreat. We listened to him for three hours this morning and were absolutely blown away–to say that his words were life changing is not too great an understatement.
What a joy to get to hear in person someone whose words we have read (and re-read) for so many words. He is a master of the language and has written many books, his most famous one being, “Ordering Your Private World.” I highly, highly recommend his writings to you.
Steve’s parents drove to Manteo to babysit both daughter and doggie during our absence; we are grateful for this much-needed chance to get away and recharge our batteries for a couple of days. Even though it’s a six hour drive, it has been so worth it to get a chance to hear one of our writing/speaking/ministerial heroes.
And now? It’s time for an afternoon nap.
Be sure to drive over to Ocean Isle Beach and see where your other daughter grew up. Glad you’ve gotten away!
Sheri, actually on our way out of town Steve looked over to his left and said, “Look! There’s Beach Assembly. I think that’s where Frank and Sheri used to pastor!” How fun to see your old stompin’ grounds.
Enjoy your get-away! I once read James Dobson say something to the effect that a great gift parents can give their children is to love each other.
Lisa, that is one of my favorite quotes.
What a fun get away! And the place you are staying is beautiful! In fact, I want to live there! View and all! My view is of the apartment next to me…sigh!
I’m glad Steve’s parents could be there to watch both of your precious daughters…furry and not!
btw…I got my necklace a few days ago…THANKS!
Krista, so glad your necklace arrived safely; I was just wondering the other day if it had made the trip successfully! And yes, we did enjoy our beautiful view out our front window. So lovely!
