A Week Peak

October 29, 2018

My last post had only one little ol’ picture in it so this post will make up for it with a plentiful plethora of photos!

In this first one, I was struck by how the reflection on the windshield made Steve’s car look like it had emerged from nature.

Experimenting with a different lens.

This is the downtown of Columbia, a little town about 45 minutes from us.  The next few pictures were all taken there.

I have a huge love affair with small towns because each one of them has its own fascinating personality.

Earlier that day as I was leaving for Greenville, I got a couple of photos at sunrise.

Of course, some of my favorite pictures have this gal in them. She headed back to school yesterday afternoon after eight days at home.

Summer had to give her a goodbye smooch.

At church yesterday, we realized we were wearing the same colors so we had to get a photo.

We had twenty people over for pizza after church yesterday.  Sarah got home before I did and started whipping things into shape so that when I walked in the door I barely had to do anything except start greeting guests.  Love that gal!

So there you have it. A peek into the past week. Or in short–a week peak.

Before I close, let me mention that Steve is feeling a bit better but is still on meds to keep the shingles pain at bay. We have been hearing so many horror stories of people who’ve had severe cases of shingles and are thankful that his case is relatively mild.  He said the pain is not like anything he has ever experienced before with a mixture of stabbing, shooting, needles, numbness,  and achiness. Not such a good time for my hubby. Thanks for your kind words and your prayers as he recovers from this.

I hope that as you take your own peek into the coming week, you will find reasons to smile and reasons to be thankful.  In the light of the shooting in Pittsburgh, every day that we are alive and going about the lives God had given us is a reason to be thankful.

I am grateful for each new morning, each new sunrise, each new breath. And I am especially thankful for YOU!  Enjoy your week.

Thankful for you and your family. Tomorrow I go to Duke Cancer for a three-month checkup and labs. Thankful that tomorrow night we are to have dinner with my two brothers and sister and their spouses. My brother and sister-in-law from Florida are stopping for a couple of nights and one day on their way to Virginia Beach to visit their son and family. Have not seen that brother and wife since May 2017. God is good. Prayers for you and Steve to recover health wise. Take care and God bless. Still waiting to hear about Grayson.

      Ann,

So thankful you got such a great report at Duke. Big sigh of relief! Huge hallelujah!

You are so blessed to be able to spend time with your siblings. I know you had a great time.

Grayson is still having weight issues which they are continuing to look into. Thanks for asking.

      Sue Ellen,

Glad you enjoyed the pictures. I so love sunrises, especially because they are never, EVER the same. Talk about variety–a sunrise has a corner on the market!

    Beautiful pictures!
Was wondering what they found out about the testing on the youngest grandson?

      Phyllis,

Thanks for checking in on Grayson. He is still having some struggles with his weight and is seeing another doctor today.

Becky, your pictures are always so fun to look at. I love your perspective! The shot of you and Sarah is a good one and you are looking really great! 🙂 Sarah looks so happy and I really like her hair style.

So glad that Steve is recovering. Prayers for him will continue.

I, too, am especially grateful today for my family and our health. Not only because of the awful event in Pittsburgh, but also because of something that has hit closer to home. A good friend of mine just told me last night that one of her daughters has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. (She was just married in August). Also, just 3 weeks ago, my friend’s father was diagnosed with AML (Leukemia). My heart is breaking for her and it really makes me realize just how fortunate we are. For our health. For our safety. For so, SO much more.

      LeeAnne,

Not only does my heart go out to your friend and your friend’s daughter, it especially goes out out to that new husband. The first year of marriage is challenging enough as it is and to have it visited with an aggressive cancer is a difficult thing, indeed.

And then to have an AML diagnosis among your circle of friends as well is more devastating news. That’s a lot of sorrow to carry but it’s what friends do, isn’t it? They stick close in the good times and especially in the bad. Your friends are fortunate to have someone like you who cares so deeply.

Hugs to you and to those who are suffering.

      Fred,

So glad you enjoyed them. You have a photographer’s eye so I know you appreciate other peoples’ photos all the more.
