Sarah loves wearing pearls. Well, not real, genuine, straight-from-the-oyster pearls but pretty pearl look- a-likes. She even found a pearl-ish, vintage-ish bracelet in a thrift store last week; the clerk showed her that the pearls were snap together beads, which I guess was indicative of the era in which it was made.
And so ends your fake pearl bracelet instructional.
Sarah also has a long strand of pearls that she loves. She wears them several different ways . .
Long.
Draped once. (Is draped even the right word? Folded over? Twirled? Encircled? I don’t even know.)
Then she decided that she wanted the pearls to be more of a choker style but she didn’t know how to accomplish that.
After some creative thinking (which she is quite good at) she discovered this solution.
Drape (encircle, fold over . . .) the pearls a couple of times and have someone nearby (that would be me) tie the ends with a pretty ribbon!
Voila! A pearl choker!
I’ve said it before but I will say it again.
Sarah is a pearl of a girl!

Sarah, I love the idea of making the choker with ribbon. I will have to try this! I wish I could wear my pearls every day, but they are a little “over the top” for scrubs. 🙂
Well, Anna, I don’t know. You could always start a new trend in the medical community–pearls-n-scrubs! 🙂
Pearls are beautiful and it does not surprise me that Sarah would love a classic gem like the pearl. Simple, elegant and timeless. Maybe someday she could have a pearl ring instead of a diamond.
Mary, a pearl ring would be beautiful. Maybe pearl AND diamond for something really unique!
I’m with Sarah loving pearls. I have my Mom’s real pearls and am scared the string will break if I wear them since they’re probably about 60-70 years old. Pearls are truly classic and the best go-to gem!
Guerrina,
How special to have real pearls that were your mom’s! It’s a shame you can’t wear them; is it possible to have a jeweler reinforce the string or at least check it to make sure it’s sturdy? You and Sarah are certainly in agreement about pearls being the go to gem!
