The phone rang at 5:30 last night. Of course, we’d been waiting all afternoon for news on Sarah’s scan so my heart jumped when I saw the caller ID.
I answered with some trepidation knowing that I would be able to perceive instantly by the tone of their voices if the news was good or bad.
But their voices were happy. Their voices were ecstatic!
Their voices said, “The tumor has shrunk by 70%. In July it was the size of grapefruit; it is now the size of a grape!”
Sarah’s oncologist said he couldn’t be any happier with those results especially because if it had grown instead of shrunk, she would have had to start on chemo with all of its accompanying severe side effects.
And just help you visualize it, here is the scan. Is that not one of the most beautiful photos you’ve ever seen? (The scan on the right was last July.)
In other less dramatic news, she’d had a spot show up on her thyroid and in her stomach in a past scan. This scan showed “no change” in those two areas, so that was another relief.
This picture was taken last week but I know this is how big their smiles were yesterday as they were driving home together, late into the evening, wrapped in their love and thankfulness.
Thanks to everyone who has prayed and waited with us. We are beyond grateful that Sarah continues to walk out the miracle of her life.
What wonderful news!
Blessed be the name of our Lord. Such fantastic news!

That is wonderful news! I know what you mean by having your heart drop when the doctor’s office name comes up on your phone. I’m the same way when Sharon Lane pops up on mine – that’s the name of my parents nursing home. Sometimes it’s just them telling me they have mail for me.
That is the VERY BEST news!! I am so thankful and rejoice with all of you!
