The Blurs of our Lives

December 18, 2017

Before we left Charlotte yesterday, we attended church with Steve’s parents and family.  How wonderful to be with my daughter, my son, my husband, my brother-in-law, all singing “Joy to the World.”

And to make it even more special, we were singing in the church were Steve and I were married almost 36 years ago.  (Anniversary is January 2.)

We left for Florida right after church got over.  Since Nathan was along, he and Steve did all the driving while Sarah and I lolled around in non-driving luxury.

At point while Steve was driving, I snapped this photo telling Nathan and Sarah, “You KNEW I would have to get this shot at some point, didn’t you?”  It was a strange but wonderful feeling to look back and see both of my kids in the back seat once again.

We were ever so glad to pull into Aburndale and see Meagan run out of the front door with happy greetings–kisses for Nathan, hugs for the rest of us. Her welcome was so sweet.

This morning we were attacked in our bed by two certain grandchildren.

Later on, they played us a concert on the piano we got them last Christmas.

The thing I love about these two photos is that they both contain a blur–a blur of motion, excitement, joy.

Those blurs are a reminder that these days will pass too soon and I need to treasure them while they are here.  So here’s to all the blurs of our lives.

I am going out to the living room to embrace a couple of those blurs right now.

      Dale,

Isn’t it amazing how a few strands of a song can bring back a million memories?

So sorry your son won’t be with you at Christmas–I hope the happy remembrances bring you much joy in his place.

Good to hear you arrived safely in Florida. I liked the photo of the “kids” in the back seat! At the age Noah and Madison are at, I would imagine you will see a lot of “blurs” during your visit! Have fun!

      Kari,

Yes, the “kids” in the back seat was one of the favorite moments of my week. I definitely remember when they were the small “blurs” instead of Noah and Madi!

Yes, all too soon those blurs will be teenagers and going off to college. Enjoy them while they’re little. Glad you made it to Florida safely! Love Steve’s bow tie!

Enjoy the blurs as much as possible because they pass too quickly. Glad it was a safe trip. Make lots of memories and take lots of pictures. Merry Christmas to all.

Love the title. The Blurs of our Lives can stand for so many different things. The trials that we go through can be blurs in our lives also. It is so important to remember that bad things go by just like good things so focus on the good and enjoy because all too soon they will just be a memory as are the bad.

      Mel,

That is something I hadn’t thought of that the trials of our lives can also be blurs in that they don’t stay forever. A very good thing to remember.
