It’s amazing to me that as many times I’ve ridden my bike up to the north bridge of Roanoke Island and photographed the sunset, it never looks the same way twice. The clouds, the atmosphere, the light, the mood of the water . . . they change every day.

Roanoke Island is a perfect paradise for DAWGS because they are taken around everywhere with their owners and are highly respected members of the Roanoke Island huntin’ and fishin’ society.
And just in case you might be wondering exactly what a DAWG is, it is a canine that loves to ride in the back of a pick up truck, whether it’s 106 degrees out or 20 degrees. Neither wild temperature variations or rain or snow seem to bother him because he is just so very, very happy to be out and about with his owner, perusing the town and feeling the wind blow through his furriness.

Yesterday afternoon I went into Nags Head to run some errands for the church and get my hair cut. I had actually grabbed my Nikon as I left because I knew I would be out there around sunset and I haven’t had a chance to take many pictures off of Roanoke Island where we live.
Well, I’m glad I thought to do the whole camera grab thing because I was about halfway home when I happened to glance to my right and see incredible loveliness. Of course, Mr. Nikon and I had to pull over.
