Done.

July 30, 2015

It occurred to me this morning that Sarah has been put to sleep three times in a little over a year.  Her line up includes two colonoscopies and one oral surgery. And then of course, there was the horrendous experience of the breast biopsy, where she wishes she had been put to sleep!.

Here she is getting ready to leave for yet another sleepy-time experience.

After the colonoscopy was done, they called me back to help get her dressed, since she was still pretty wobbly.

The doctor gave us some (basically) good news. Although he did find another polyp (which is not great for a 19-year old to be producing) and is sending it for biopsy, he sounded fairly confident that it should be fine.

He said that Sarah is just going to have to be hyper-vigilant her whole life in this particular area and added that would be comfortable in letting her go for 3 years until she has a repeat colonoscopy.

After a 90-minute trip home, my small, tired warrior trudged into the house.

I’m glad her being put to sleep days are behind her for a little while at least, and am thankful for the good news we got today.

Glad it is over and there is good news. As the mom of an 18 year old (& 16 & 14), I am seeing lots of maturity in Sarah’s face over the past 6 months. It’s so remarkable how this subtle transition happens both inside and out. What a gift both ways as our girls find their way in the world and become themselves more and more everyday. So thankful you get to be together a bit longer during this phase of life.

      Lovejoy5,

What sweet words and how observant of you to notice the changes in Sarah. I was just thinking the same thing; the past few months have really begun to mature her face into womanhood. It’s a great journey being a mom, isn’t it?

Praying the biopsy will be clear. For such a young lady she really has had so much and yet she is still a trooper and smiling through it all. What a blessing she is.

So grateful to hear the good news, Sarah (& family)! And, may I say that you look better than anyone I’ve ever seen after a “going too sleep” procedure!! Wow!! Hopefully you’ll be taking it easy for a few days while you nourish your body!

You’re getting ready to start your Sophomore Year, right? Is the plan too still go away to finish your last two years??

    Take care, Sarah!

    Love & hugs,

    Jodi

    • Thanks, Jodi! Being put to sleep has never bothered me too much, other than the fasting beforehand, of course. I certainly have been taking it easy, but it’s been nice to get back to my normal life! 🙂
I start my sophomore year on August 17. I’ll get my Associate’s Degree (2 year) at the College of the Albemarle and transfer to Campbell University to complete my Bachelor’s Degree. I’ll be majoring in English with a concentration in teaching. I might also minor in video production or graphic design, to have as a part-time job while I’m not teaching in the summer.
