College Kid, Bowtie and A Dog

September 25, 2017

Sarah just pulled out of the driveway after being home for the weekend.

Always happy to see her come. Always sad to see her go.

Before she gets ready for take off . . .

her mechanic always makes sure to check the oil in her car and the air in the tires.

In addition to all the other things I appreciated about having Sarah in the house, she provided some much-needed technical assistance with several things I had been struggling with, one of which was to locate an extra 50,000 pictures on my computer when I could only find 10,000.  (I was moving pictures between photo editing programs.)

It took her all of 4.6 seconds of key punching to find the missing photos and she didn’t even break a sweat or strain her brain. THAT is one of the reasons I had children.  Free tech support.

While she gave me a tech lesson, Steve gave her a hand-tied bow tie lesson.

He  wore a bow tie to church yesterday morning and afterward asked Sarah if she wanted to try untying the tie so that she could see what went into the tying of it.

The mysteries of a bow tie were (literally) unraveled.

I’m so thankful for these two people in my life who make every moment brighter.

I’m also thankful for a doggie who makes me smile with her funny ways.

Last week, I was changing the sheets on the bed and after getting the bottom sheet down, I got distracted and wandered off, laying a shirt on the bed as I went.

When I returned, my goofy dog had turned her back on the entire huge, empty bed . . .

and scrunched the entirety of her body onto the shirt.  In other words, the sheet smelled like fabric softener and the shirt smelled like mom so, no contest, right?

After a short while, she got up off the shirt and came over to gaze at me and try (in her small pea-brain) to figure out just what I was doing.

And then when that got old, she figured it was about time for Steve to get home so she stared steadfastly at the door, using her great mind powers to gather him from the ends of the earth.

And wonder of wonders, it worked! A few minute later, he walked in the door.

God knew what he was doing when he made dogs, didn’t he?  Love my little Yorkie gal.

In closing, I wanted to mention that our granddaughter, Madison, was diagnosed with pneumonia over the weekend. She’s been to see a doctor twice and will go again this morning. She is on steroids, antibiotics and breathing treatments in hopes of keeping her out of the hospital.

We appreciate your prayers for her and for her mom and dad since this is a difficult, worrisome time for them all.

      Hello!

Yes, I have given that idea some consideration and will probably do it at some point down the road; just waiting for the right time.

      Thanks for the good suggestion!

      Catherine,

One of the truly difficult parts of parenthood is a sick child when you want to make them feel better, but can’t. You and I have both been there. Thanks for the prayers!

It is so scary when the little ones get so sick. Those neb treatments are key too, to keep the airways open. I’ve heard on the news that there is a lot of yuck that is now down there due to Hurricane Irma, Not fun. I see its headed your way too, even though it stays out at sea I see the water sure pushes up yet. I have a nephew in boot camp in Parris Island SC who I worry about too with the hurricane. Those pets of ours are so much our family aren’t they? My dog, Freddy, a chocolate lab greets me at the car door each time I come home from somewhere with a big ole smile on his face. 🙂 I call my kids too when I have computer problems or cell phone problems. ha! They are so much more technology savvy then I am. Have a great week. Wendy

      Wendy,

You’re right about yucky stuff that got churned up during the hurricane; that’s exactly what Madison’s doctor told Meagan. He has seen a huge increase in lung issues.

A chocolate lab is such a sweet, friendly dog. I know it makes your day to be greeted like that. 🙂

Prayers for sweet Madison. Our grandson had this too and it really is such a worrisome time. He managed to stay out of the hospital and I pray that Madi will too. Those breathing treatments are key.
Sarah is so pretty….I love her smile!
I saw on the news this morning that Maria is working her way towards your area. Prayers for safety for all of you as she passes. GO AWAY HURRICANES!!!!

    • Becky says:

      LeeAnne,

Thankfully Maria was downgraded to a TS before she arrived here. We are getting some rain and heavy gusts today but nothing like it could have been. So thankful!

Prayers for Madison and parents. God heal that precious little girl and give peace to the entire family. Sarah is beautiful as always. Prayers for safety from the storm. God bless. And yes, love our pups. Mine watch the door for me when I am gone.

    • Becky says:

      Ann,

Thank you for the prayers. She seems to have some ongoing asthma problems and the doctor said the recent hurricane has created a lot of breathing issues in people, I guess due to everything that was stirred up.

Enjoy those pups of yours. Aren’t they great? 🙂
