Carolina Morning. The Baby Bump.

May 30, 2013

This morning at about 6:30, I rode my bike. . .

to the north bridge and back.

When I finished my ride and pulled back into our driveway, I stopped for a moment before putting the bike in the garage and just gazed around me at springtime. Springtime springing up. Springtime springing out all over.

Blooms. Birds. Green leaves. Even greener grass. Quietude. Early morning. Peace. The joy of being out and about when much of Roanoke Island was still shuttered behind its windows.

I really and truly love a Carolina morning.

And guess what I also love?

My daughter-in-law who just happens to be a strong, lovely, baby-growing lady!

(Hi Noah! I love you, too! I hope you’re enjoying being on your grandma’s blog today!)

I am so excited you are going to be a Grandmother, it’s the best. I know how you love your children, but just wait until you see that new little guy for the first time, that is love at it’s finest!!! Congrats to all of you!

      Connie,

I am definitely one excited grandma-to-be! So nice to have a second go ’round of little babies in my life!

Lucy and I used to love riding bikes down that trail, when our kids were young and we stayed at the “Sandpipers Trace” Campground (long gone). How wonderful to enjoy those memories through your photos. 🙂

    • Becky says:

      Fred,

Is Sandpiper’s Trace the place that was replaced by the waterfront community called Heritage Point? If so, I like to ride bike back in there every once in awhile–so lovely and peaceful. I can imagine that being a perfect place to camp!

one of the songs my Nightingales Group sing at the Retirement Centers is
“Nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina in the mooooorning!”

Mama looks adorable!!! and quite happy, I might say.

    • Becky says:

      Mrs. Pam,

I LOVE that song. I used to sing it as a kid growing up in Wisconsin, never dreaming that one day I would experience Carolina in the morning–every morning!

Beautiful picture of Mommie and baby. Like the pictures of your house, too.

Thank you so much for a great start to my morning – pictures of the shore, a beautiful and loving home and whimsical trail and an adorable mama-to-be and her Noah baby bump. Hi, Noah – you are famous already!

    • Becky says:

      Mary,

Yes, it’s true. Noah is starting out his life already starring on the blog. What more could a 20-week old fella want, right? 🙂

She is no bigger than she was 2 months ago! Crazy!

      Anonymous,

I know. Meagan seems to be one of those who shows early and then just sort of stays steady for awhile. So funny how each pregnancy is so different for each woman.

Beautiful pictures, so peaceful looking! Also cute baby bump! I love the look of you chair on the porch, it looks so comfortable. I would love to have a couple of those on my porch. Enjoy your day.

    • Becky says:

      Kathy,

Yes, I do love that porch chair. it’s sturdy and curved and comfy and a great place to sit and look at the loveliness of spring!

So you are going to be be called Grandma. That was a big discussion when my first grandbaby was born. My mom is called a different name by each of her grandchildren but all of mine (5) call me Nana.

    • Becky says:

      Becky,

That’s a good question. Although Steve and I would probably prefer “grandma and grandpa,” you can be sure that we will be delighted with any name that pops out of sweet Noah’s mouth!

Oh, that baby bump is adorable!
