A New Look

Edited to Add: I also opted for a different commenting system to go into effect at the same time as the blog update.   It will help facilitate conversation better and you can sort the comments according to the way you want.  You can also very easily post a picture–of your grand baby, your fur baby or your vacation! I think you’ll love it!  (I do realize the font in the comment area is a bit hard to read–I’m working on getting that fixed.)

Back to the earlier post . . .

I had a bit of an update done to the blog as you have probably noticed by now.  It will take me just a day or two to find my way around and figure a few things out, but so far I’m loving the new, fresh look.

I’m leaving in just a moment to take Sarah to her job.  Yes, you read that right.  My little girl has somehow grown old enough to run the cash register at a restaurant gift store about 20 minutes away.  Tonight she will be in training and tomorrow night she will be on her own.

A Call To Colonoscopies. And A Picture Or Two.

It was quite interesting to read the many comments you all left on my recent colonoscopy post.  They just reminded me once more what I love about the Smithellaneous community: you all are ready to jump right in there and share your stories and your experiences regardless of the subject!

I know that some of you may wonder though, why I am choosing to talk about a private-ish sort of procedure like a colonoscopy on such a public-ish sort of forum like Smithellaneous.

Drain Bamage

I was planning on writing something profound, witty, and fabulous today but it appears that my brain is still hung over from yesterday’s Wondrous Colonoscopy Experience and its accompanying Foray into The Lovely Land of Anesthesia.

Even though I slept most of yesterday after my return from the hospital, I still feel semi-discombobulated today.   Maybe all that horrific prep liquid I had to drink on Monday night did permanent drain bamage.  I mean,  brain damage.

Finally. A Song From Our Easter Drama!

I wanted to get this post up tonight since I won’t have a chance tomorrow; I’m leaving at 6 am for an out-of-town trip to head up a meeting for women ministers and pastor’s wives in our part of the state.     Fortunately, I like long, solitary trips.  I just don’t like leaving quite that early!

I’m still waiting on Easter drama photos to be edited and turned in (our photographer took 1400 of them!), but for tonight, I have a video of the song that closed out the drama.  (It shows Jesus being resurrected at the end of it.)

Moth.

As a rule, I am not a bug loving woman.  I am not extremely fearful of them; I just don’t like ‘em.

And so in order to quantify my dislike of those particular creatures, I have created for myself a finely tuned, diligently researched Bug Rating System.  It basically states:  Bugs that fly are not as scary as bugs that crawl.  (And yes I realize that scientifically speaking, the word bugs doesn’t accurately cover the whole spectrum of flying/crawling creatures, but work with me here.)

Grateful For The Scars

I recently got a letter saying I was due for a mammogram.  I was a bit puzzled since my mammogrammable parts have been somewhat diminished since my last appointment of that nature.    But I am nothing if not an obedient patient so I trudged (obediently)  into the Breast Imaging Center and started to fill out one of those ever-present, eternally long forms that doctors and their staff members spend hours concocting so that they can garner already submitted, duplicated information to deposit into their files.

Snowy Goes To College Series (Part 1)

Life’s been crazy folks, that’s all there is to it.   And as much as I love blogging, I’m afraid that the aforementioned Crazy Life has not given me much time to do it.

We were without Internet at home for 10 days, Steve’s been sick in bed all weekend, I worked 10 hours on Saturday (which is supposed to be a day off), I handled a lot of “Steve duties” yesterday morning in church since he wasn’t there, and today I am off to Greenville for three doctor appointments–mammogram, plastic surgeon and oncologist.  (All just routine check ups.)  And tomorrow morning I’m starting work with a designer to do a minor redesign of the blog. (Since the header I have up right now is just homemade and temporary.)

The Book Contest? It’s Ending Soon!

During the past couple of days, you guys have mentioned some really great books in the Comments Section.  I have so enjoyed not just reading the titles you love but also the reasons behind why you love them.  It’s nice to know Smithellaneous-ites are book lovers.

As promised, the book drawing will be announced tomorrow by noon.  Check back in to see if you are the winner of a fabulous locally written book autographed by not one, not two, but THREE people!     How fun is that?

In the meantime, I don’t know if I’ve posted this picture already but I put it on my desktop this morning and have just loved catching a glimpse of it throughout the day.  It has such a lovely glow that it makes feel equally glow-y.  (Or maybe my glow is just because of oily skin.  Who knows?)

But at any rate, I prefer to think that I (and the picture) are both aglow.

See you back here tomorrow morning.
