I Think I’ll Keep Him

Since Sundays start at 5 am and are long work days for Steve and me, our weekend consists of all day Friday and a half day Saturday.  Saturday should really be off altogether,  but we always manage to still have several hours of work to be done so we end up at the church at least half that day, too.  Maybe someday we’ll find a way to git ‘er done during the week but for now, Friday is our Big Day Off.

This morning after getting a few things straightened up in our bedroom,  I came downstairs to witness this inspiring sight in the kitchen.

I think I’ll keep him.

(We’re going to be spending much of our day off in our incredibly messy garage attempting to show it who’s the boss.  If you don’t hear from me by Monday, assume the garage won.)

I know another keeper: Mrs. Guthrie’s husband. a few years ago when I had a working oven, I got something from the deli that came in a PLASTIC container with instructions on microwave and oven heating. Somebody, who wasn’t too bright at the time, put the container in the oven….. and
eventually discovered that the plastic had melted not only on my meal, but also, all over the rack.

There was no way to get all the plastic off. The oven was the half size, and I could not find a small replacement rack…. So, Mrs. G. took it home to tackle the cleaning…. she didn’t have much luck, and put the rack in her garage, and it was eventually discovered by MR. G, who thought it was their rack.

I’m sure you can figure out the end of the story… He scrubbed (probably for hours), and I now have a clean rack in a broken oven!!!

Mrs. Pam, anyone who work that hard to scrub of MELTED plastic is a keep, indeed!

Becky, can you tell me how to go back to your cancer posts and read them? Since I am on that same journey I would like to read about all you went thru again. You inspire me. :)

OKAY, OKAY, OKAY….WE GET IT!!!! Steve is the best husband possible, the nicest guy around, the most stupendous guitar player imaginable, the most incredible dad a child could have, the finest best friend a girl could want, an amazing pastor, person, and perhaps the BEST PERSON ON THE PLANET.

I am sick of hearing about it, understand??? In a few minutes I have to wheel into the other room where I will find my husband NOT scrubbing the stove, NOT ironing my clothes, NOT on top of the kitchen counter installing a microwave….just NOT (fill in the blank).

So, there. Now tell me how wonderful my words are. Ha ha ha ha ha.

(Okay, so I made all this up. And my husband may not be Steve, but he is a wonderful, patient man with a good heart and a commitment to seeing to it that everything I need or want is addressed. That’s why I call him Alejandro, my personal cabana boy.)

Sue, even when you’re not writing “wonderful words” you’re still wonderful. And of course, funny!

So glad you have an Alejandro in your life; that’s more than I can say!
